All the features are great-- My photos suck!
I purchased this camandera at a great price and wanted to use it for taking photos for Ebay. I figured a high-end consumer digital camera with 12MP and tons of zoom would do the trick.
And it kind of did. It takes photos and they're pretty big and mostly clear, but they are in no way pro. I've been tempted since "Snap" 1 to get a tripod, because minor motion blurs images very easily on every setting I could find.
Camera menu navigation is mediocre. The screen LCD quality is pretty darn good though. I like the body, feel, and shape. It's sturdy, has good weight. I like the accessories, the nice pouch.
I liked almost everything about this camera except the damn pictures. I came from a Canon A590 model previously. From the moment I took it out of the box, I could fumble off a drunken "Hey we're at a bar" shot for Facebook and we'd look like Rock Stars on the town. I can't seem to get this camera to take a half-decent photo of an iPod from 3 feet in good light with 7 tries.
Maybe I'm an idiot and Canon produces really good cameras for idiots. Maybe Sony's engineers are the idiots. I'm not a digital camera expect or a genius certainly, so I don't know. Read more reviews.
My experience was certainly that it all looked fantastic on paper - but a picture was worth a thousand words.

Good camera if you understand all the settings.
The camera is lightweight which is good. I bought this camera used and it did not come with instructions which is too bad because this camera is very hard for me to get good pictures. I am not a camera expert and I want an easy to use point and shoot camera. This camera has a lot of settings and I cannot seem to get the right one. It seems every other picture I take is blurry. Many, many options for photos...Such as Portrait, Pets, Nightlife, Landscape, Widescreen, Self Portrait, Darkly Lit areas...There are so many more, I just don't have the camera in front of me to list them all, but I kept pressing the down arrow and more and more options kept popping up. I was so ecstatic and surprised!
Lightweight camera, which CNET.COM calls the OLYMPUS FE-46, "FE" abbreviated for "Fine and Elegant".
It offers you the option to use alkaline batteries or rechargeable batteries and you can choose on screen which battery type you are putting into the camera, or using rather.
The FE-46 displays the amount of photos left on the memory card in big white letters and shows how much battery power you have left.
I own a Canon camera which takes a better video and maybe even a better picture at only 5 Megapixels, but this camera blew me away for the fact it takes BATTERIES you can easily buy at a store or bring a charger with you (it only takes 2 batteries) and for the light weighted-ness of it, oh and having 2 different types of expansion slots is better than anything I've seen in any of the several cameras I own, and I own at least 6 or 7 digital cameras and about 15 if you combine my mother's to the bunch.
The Olympus FE-46 is a true winner. If I were a consumer looking for an inexpensive start to photography, the 12 Megapixel FE-46 would be my way to go.
PS: Thanks to the seller who I bought mine from on eBay. He included a beautiful Samsonite case to carry it in, and a 2gb Micro SD which I wasn't expecting. I appreciate it greatly.
Check this camera out for yourself. From a long time user of Olympus cameras I can tell you, you won't be disappointed!

First go at digital photography...
Just received my new camera today. I got the blue one, didn't think I'd like it, but that was all that was available from this seller... I LOVE THE BLUE, it is really bright and pretty.
The camera for me is a little complicated, but keeping in mind that my Kodak Instamatic was a bit complicated for my photographic skills, this camera is actually pretty easy.
I had to use a magnifying glass to tell what some of the markings were on the back, but once I knew what was what it was easy. I haven't really explored all the great things this camera does, but I think I will have a good time learning.
The camera DOES NOT come with any memory cards, even though it seemed in the description it would, it does come with the adapter for the microSD cards, so you can use either the xD cards or the microSD cards.
For my money, I am very well satisfied. Some reviews said the pictures were "grainy" but if you follow the INSTRUCTIONS you see that you are supposed to press the button ½ way down to allow it to focus, then press all the way down.... it is easy as pie. olympus camera
we really like this camera, has all the features we needed and the picture quality is great. We have traveled with this camera and really like the size of this camera. The fact that it has a video in it is also great. We are still triing all the different features and seeing how they turn out on actual pictures, it has been a really fun, easy to use and figure out camera! Great camera for the price!
I needed a camera for better pictures on Ebay, this camera takes excellent pictures. It is sometimes touchy on auto focus but besides that it's a great little camera.
I read reviews that said this camera takes terrible pictures, I do not agree. I would like to say try all the settings before you say it's a bad camera!Lire l'avis complet...
Very Nice Olympus FE-46 12.0 camera
I like the nice big screen. I'am going from a 3.0 to a 12.0 megapixel. That means when I sell items on EBAY, I can get real nice close ups and detail for the buyer. The camera looks new, has everything I'am looking for. This is an awesome camera for the money. Well packaged with Memory card, USB/ TV cords and the DVD manual plus booklet. Very good of the kind, and absolutely perfect for its low price. Nice and comfortable, gives very good pictures.
You'll only need to get a memory card in addition.
And the quality of video is not very perfect, but still it's ok.
