I am a Nikon DSLR user but wanted a camera I could carry with me when traveling around town. I looked at quite a few cameras and finally settled with this camera. I liked the reviews but was undecided until I looked at one in a large discount store. The camera felt "right" in my hand. It has a digital viewfinder which is ok, I have never liked composing a picture by looking at a back of a camera so it had to have a viewfinder. I do like the 18X zoom and it does work with the IS. The reason I rate it good instead of excellent it has a couple of small features that I find difficult - like viewing pictures taken when I have the urge to "Chimp" or the zoom can be too quick. I would buy this camera again and recommend it. It is light but not "tinny." Overall it has a good feel. It has some professional limitations but it is not being marketed as a professional camera. I would like a hot shoe for a flash just in case.
Feel / handling: very good.
Viewfinder image: good.
Image quality: excellent.
Battery life: very good.
Battery cost: very good.
Viewing and deleting pictures in the camera - good - to me this is hard compared to other camera.
Zoom: This is a WOW! Excellent-especially with the image stabilization.
Manual shutter and f/stop and manual focusing: so-so, but unless you are doing night shots this is not much of an issue. Overall I am very satisfied with the purchase. Just look for a 10% ebay coupon to help with the purchase.Lire l'avis complet...

Happy so far.....

Bought this camera because I wanted to have something with a zoom, so I could zoom into take pictures of the humming birds at my feeder. Being a novice to photography, I decided I should start out with a bridge camera. I studied the reviews of cameras and found that the panasonic dmc-fz ranked high on the scale. The reviewers seem to like the fz-35 better then the newest fz-40 and the people who had the fz-28's seem to like theres better. Well price made my mind up since I am inexperienced. Thought I will upgrade if I learn the camera functions and can take good pictures. At this time I am still studing the functions and learning how to use it but have had good experience so far. Inexpensive camera easy to use.

I had tickets to the inauguration, and needed a good camera, that was easy to operate, at a reasonable price. Consumer Reports had given this camera high marks and it did not disapoint. In the IA (intelligent auto) mode, it was impossible to take a bad picture. I photographed the inauguration, various Smithsonian exhibits, the Memorials, and the concerts. I photographed in daylight, night time and indoors. I really don't have any negatives on this camera. Nice camera that takes great pictures.

By this time, 2018 - this is a badly outdated camera; BUT, if you don't need the latest and greatest, then for what this camera is selling for now, you can't beat it. Main reason being - IT TAKES GREAT PICTURES! Don't let the 10.1 pixel count fool you. The camera has a great Lieca lens, and that's probably why it does so well with image quality. Yes, the cell phone cameras are great these days, but a decent bridge camera is still useful. If you don't want to spend a lot on one, then I would highly recommend this.Lire l'avis complet...

Unknowledgeable photographer

I bought the camera on the recommendation of a friend and it fit my needs and came at a good price. Frankly, I don't know that I'll ever utilize all of the features that are included, but I've been experimenting with all the different settings and I'm amazed at the varying results. I'm very pleased with it so far, but am far from fully taking full advantage of all capabilities. It's well built and is as easy or complicated as you choose to make it. Excellent camera

Camera takes excellent pictures, and I've already taken several hundred, to test out all features and functions. It has an awesome zoom lens, and has many manual settings, if you wish to use them. The only place Panasonic skimped on was the rather ordinary plastic housing for it, but as I said, it filled that plastic case with some very good, high-quality components. I would pay a bit more for this camera if it had a richer-looking housing. The only other thibg I wish it had was the ability to time stamp the pictures if you chose to do so. Great compact, they do not come any better

Great camera. This little guy will do almost everything a DSLR can do in a compact size. Optical zoom is 18x and if you include the digital zoom for far away landscapes you get 72x zoom. Great lens, easy operation, and every function at your fingertips. To save battery life, use viewfinder instead of lcd for taking pics. Best point and shoot camera I've ever had

We love these cameras!!! As amateur photographers, my husband and I both have canon40D-SLRs, but we use these little cameras in our kayaks and on our bikes when we don't want to carry the "big" cameras. The lumix takes such sharp,vivid, clear and colorful pictures that I'll carry mine even when I have my canon. Simple to use, with all of the features we use, they can do anything our canons do. I love the range of the lens from nearly wide angle to great telescopic reach. And I really love the active, live histogram. Prior to this small point and shoot, we'd had a comparable kodak, nikon, and a sony (all nice cameras) but we like the panasonic lumix better in everyway.Lire l'avis complet...

Panasonic Lumix FZ28k

This is the best digital camera I've owned so far. Finally it's fast enough to take those action pics of my kids I always wanted but they never came out focused. It's still slower then regular old fashion camera but nevertheless capable of taking action pics ... also you can take several shots a seconds, and the zoom feature is 18x; thus it's actually useful. Just wish the objective would be removable and exchangeable but can't have everything. The weight is suprisingly low for such bulky looking design. Camera has stabilizer, 18x zoom and also is capable of shooting decent amateur home videos. Excellent camera with Leica lens; however for my pro photography I still stick with my good ol' Canon Rebel Ti film camera.Lire l'avis complet...

Find one if you can

This P&S camera by Panasonic has been surpassed by newer models, but it is very capable of producing excellent photos. Many more picture-taking options than a normal P&S, but it's famous for it's AI automatic setting that analyses the photo situation and selects the appropriate ASA (old film speed), shutter and aperture.
