broader illumination than the older 30 LED model but not as bright
The 33 surface-mounted LEDs provide broader but less bright illumination than the older and cheaper 30 LED model where each LED has a built-in lens. The older model produces a brighter but smaller area of light. Unless you need broader illumination, the older model seems like a better buy. Regardless of the number and type of LED, the overall design has been around a long time and has proven its worth. The gooseneck is highly adjustable and stable. The magnet is strong. If you want to use this lamp on a plastic or aluminum surface you must add a steel plate (not included) to the place where you want the lamp to go.

A great little lamp
I bought this "sewing machine" lamp to use on a band saw in my workshop. It works great! The light is bright, the gooseneck is easily adjustable and holds its position, the rocker switch is conveniently mounted on top of the magnetic base, and the magnet is STRONG! I was concerned it might be weak, making it easy to dislodge the lamp with a minor bump, but that is not the case. The magnet grabs the steel and holds tightly. Very impressive. I just bought two more of these lamps for a mini-lathe and mini-milling machine in my metal shop. I highly recommend this lamp.

Good but not great
Bought 2 units. Lens would not fit in one unit due to sloppy assembly Other unit no problem. Magnet is very strong Lighting is more than adequate

Plenty of extra light for the price
Attached one to my drill press and one at my sanding station for extra light. Work perfectly.
