Tamron Does It Again!
As an old 35mm SLR guy, I've used many camera bodies and lenses over the years. My trusty Canon EF and Tamron lenses have served me well (and saved a lot of money compared to Canon lenses). Technology marches on, film and paper is expensive and hard to find, and the image quality of the digital world has improved greatly. I'm very impressed with the small size, light weight, and zoom range of this lens. Most surprising is the lack of barrel distortion and chromatic aberration in a (28 mm equiv.) wide angle lens -- and it is also a (300 mm equiv.) telephoto. Tamron's high electrical/mechanical/optical quality, smooth operation, and reasonable pricing practices are in full force. The auto-focus is fast enough, but easily confused (a common problem), as with all the lenses I've used on my Canon T4i (so it is probably the camera, not this lens).Achat vérifié : OuiÉtat : Occasion

Great all purpose lens!
This is a Great all purpose lens! Yes, it’s a little slow, with lower apertures than prime lenses, but it makes up for this with the flexibility of shooting situations it has. This is now my all around lens. If I can only take one lens on a trip, this one gets the nod. Reasonably fast and pretty sharp. Not quite as good as the Canon stuff - but I'm an amateur not a professional.

Great Value
This is a quality lens at a fair price. It does not have image stabilization, but that is not something you would expect from a lens in this price range. Nice older generation lens for travel.

Good Lens for the Money
I have a Tamron 18-600mm lens (62mm thread) which weights around 3-times as much, but doesn't give me the clarity this lens does (I think the bigger lens is too much for my little Canon SL1, or it was a lemon to begin with). SEXY
This is my go to intermediate travel lens, when folks say HEY come on out... this is the lens I take, when I see something in transition that I need to shoot quickly, this is the lens I take, when I am at a show and just need a few shots to remember the moment or promote my services, this is the lens I take. well worth the money, despite the annoying reverse zoom-turn direction when compared to a standard Canon lens. The good is 18-200mm so it work in any where with only one len. it was as also lighter than sigma len.

Zoom mechanism loose
This lens looks nice, but it has a major flaw. When you point the camera down, the zoom slides out (zooming in). It’s not supposed to do that. Other than that, it is a nice lens.
