  • Once in Awhile Something Comes Along

I bought this for my young grandson in Minneapolis. He has had behavioral problems and can't keep his mind on anything of value nor of sufficient interest. This melodica has changed all that. His mother and father are dealing with a different boy thanks to this helper. He concentrates on his fingers and his breath control; can't imagine another item that could accomplish so much for a four year-old. Thanks so much. -Marsha Hoff, Phoenix, AZ

  • Love it!

I have had a Yamaha P-37D for a few years but have been getting increasingly frustrated with inconsistency in the key action. Not sure if I had a lemon but that was the only major gripe I had with my P37D. Was seriously considering a Hammond 44HP but it's a bit of an investment that's probably not justified given my level of playing. After watching several YouTube videos, I decided to purchase a Suzuki M37C since the sound seemed a bit darker compared to the P37D which might be suitable for certain pieces. I was pleasantly surprised by the Suzuki M37C. It's of a much higher quality than I'd anticipated. The body, keyboard and bag are all beautiful. It also comes with a choice of mouthpieces. I really love the key action and this melodica has become my daily driver even though the Yamaha's sound is probably more colorful. To sum it up, I really love this product. To folks who are on the fence, I'd highly recommend it.

  • Best melodian

This Suzuki m 37 is a favorite of many musicians because of playability and tone. It is is affordable and playes great. A player gets a true reed feel on this ax. It comes with two mouthpieces, one for the lead pipe and a direct piece.

  • A gift very well received

I bought this melodica for my eight year old granddaughter who has some proficiency in playing the piano. I was pleased to see that she was able to play it immediately and that she seemed to derive much fun and pleasure from it. The sound is less strident than it appears in some of the videos and with less force, it can be played at a quieter volume. I was hoping to complement her piano playing and I think this instrument will be perfect. The quality of this instrument and its case is immediately evident. While it took a few weeks to ship from Japan, it was well worth the wait.

  • I love it. I take it everywhere.

It's my favorite instrument. There are some things that could make it better, but as far as melodicas go - this might be the best you can get. The bendy attachment could be a tad longer. I have to lean uncomfortably when playing while sitting. It would also be cool to have a version with some modulation attachment or mechanism.

  • Very good instrument

I have other melodicas: Hohner and Yamaha, but this one is different. It's the only one I can play really soft and it can be played loud too. Yamaha is louder but the sound of the Suzuki is "warmer" I prefer the sound of the Suzuki. Keys are extremely silent in this model, better than the other brand i've mentioned. The body is the best of this model, it's very good looking, feels nice, and it seems to be very hard to brake.

  • The Suzuki M-37C has a robust sound and plays easily

Good lower notes, and the top notes work better than the Yamaha P37D's. The Yamaha though has a somewhat sweeter sound and chords are played more easily. Tuning may be somewhat better with the Yamaha, but I like having both for their (minor) differences.

  • A truly beautiful instrument

I've played the melodica for over forty years. This is absolutely the finest I have ever owned. In the last few months I have tried quite a few, but this is the winner in craftsmanship and richness of tone. You absolutely will not regret paying a little more. The Suzuki M37 is worth every penny.

  • Fun to play!

Like a lot of people, I'm asked to write a review a short time after receiving a product. I can't say much about the longetivity of the Suzuki M-37C Melodion. I hope it lasts it a long time, because I don't know how I would go about fixing it if anything broke. I am having a ton of fun playing it. I play the piano and I've had little problem in playing this instrument. It's got pretty much the range of a violin and flute. I've even played some saxophone parts. Unlike most of those, you can easily play chords on it (the violin can do multiple stops, but that's limited). Keep in mind that the keys are narrower and that there is no "touch-sensitivity". You have volume control by blowing, but all notes sound the same. Keys are hard to press away from the edge. This is a problem mostly if you have a chord with black notes and have a white note in the center. The sound is great for celtic tunes and jazz. If you use a lot of chords, it sounds like an accordion. And there are no wires or batteries! The other advantage for a piano player is that its easier to pick up than a piano. :-)

  • Great value.

I have the similar Hohner. I love it too...it sounds more accordion like...more traditional. Great for folk. The Suzuki responds a bit faster for quick breath ornaments...slightly more harmonica-like. Great for zydeco.
