SynopsisPamela Colman Smith's beloved tarot artwork, created in 1909 under the direction of Arthur E. Waite, is now presented in a borderless format for a more immersive reading experience. This 84-card deck includes four extra cards with reproduction samples of Pixie's non-tarot artwork, including two watercolor paintings "Catch Me" and "Duet"; the Lovers illustration from the play Deirdre; and an illustration from the sheet music for "Christmas Carol." The deck comes with an instruction booklet.
Somber, muted deck with no borders let's the art be the focus.
I purchased this deck after giving it a lot of thought. I already have the original Rider version and like the symbolism in the art, but I've never liked the colors in it. I was hoping for a pastel version. This deck isn't pastel, but I will call it 'less saturated'. There are a lot of grey and sepia tone shades in it. It is somber and muted, but not pastel (no pink, lavender, baby blue). My favorite aspect is that they removed the borders. It is much prettier that way! I really enjoy reading with this deck! It feels extra witchy. The rounded corners are nice. Mine shuffles well, but the cards don't "slide" into one another well. The paper seems like it might come up at the corners if I shuffle that way, so I shuffle like poker cards for this deck. Hope that helps!
I love the look of this tarot deck. It has similar images as the Rider-Waite deck but with muted colors and an antiqued look. This borderless version eliminates the distraction of the usual white border you see on most tarot cards.
I use rider Waite exclusively. Seeing it borderless makes me think this should be the standard rider Waite. I still have my originals but borderless is my new favorite!
Great set of tarot cards. Borderless version is a plus, as I’ve always found the borders to be distracting when reading. Colors are perfect, not oversaturated like a lot of Rider-Waite decks. Would purchase again.
