Samsung Galaxy Buds - Straight Shot Review
TLDR: Love how clean the sounds is, how small the buds are, and now a fan of wireless charging. Blah is - lack of true control customization. Hate? Absolutely nothing.
Full Review: I had kind of quit listening to music. Wired earbuds drained my phone battery too quick. But bluetooth changes that, the drain on the phone itself... maybe 1% an hour. So, speaking of battery, I have not tried to run the Samsung buds to their end. I can tell you I listen about an hour a day during work commutes and just throw them on the charging pad once a week. Always ready to go.
These Samsung buds are not noise cancelling, but I have had 4 of my co-workers try them and every one said, "Dang, these really cut the noise." as soon as they put one in their ear. They really do a good job. I went with the standard tip and wings and they fit comfortable - every review stresses to try different combos to improve sound and comfort. I do think I want a smaller wing in my right ear. Anyway, as far as so many reviewers saying, "I forgot I was wearing them."...errrr... I don't think that is possible when you are cramming something in your ear, but the Samsung Buds are definitely NOT ear aches in the making. Pretty darn comfortable.
Sound. Oh geeesh. Only you know what sounds good. I hate pompous audiophiles. I'll agree with one reviewer, "the best word is clean". The sound is very clean. Play 'Rock On' by Essex, some Gorillaz, Kongos, old school rock, gimme some Phantogram, and I always hear things with the Samsung Buds I've never heard before. Clean, definitely clean. I can tell you I think the base is solid. You may or may not agree. But absolutely sure it is better than you can really expect from any tiny little bud from anyone.
Samsung Buds are so convenient. Heck, I thought I was living large when I moved into some bluetooth buds with the wire going between. Naw. Now, no wires to wrap or try to cram into a tiny case. Super small. I live in the land of the beenie. I can put in the buds, pull on my beenie over my ears and people cannot tell I have them in. Before I bought I watched what other people are wearing for buds. Argue any other feature, but Samsung Buds are the smallest. No big knobs sticking out like you are Dumbo or some space alien. Discreet. Your boss can't see them from behind you.
So yea. Super happy with my purchase and I am loving having music back in my commute without killing my phone. My one complaint is there is very little actual customization possible. Don't try to micro-manage my music experience, give me freedom. And what a poor equalizer. Set the software to "Dynamic" and forget about it.
One side issue: Volume. Ok for me, especially since I did the trick - google "Samsung Buds Volume", no space to explain it. Still.... might be a little quiet if you like to make your ears bleed.
