If you have a portable generator for emergencies, you should install one of these.
Eliminates the mess of running multiple extension cords to the items that you need to keep running during a power outage. Also, it will provide power to other items that are hard wired into your house wiring that you cannot connect with an extension core (ie. furnace). The pigtail that goes this transfer switch to your breaker box could be a little longer - I had to extend a couple of the sets of wires to reach the breakers. Planning for where to mount the box and determining which circuits to use, were harder than the actual wiring. every home should have a backup
The transfer switch and plug was easy to install and works great. The only regret I have is not getting a larger generator and a Larger switch box with more circuits because of how easy it was to install. It is a good product at a good price.Achat vérifié : OuiÉtat : Neuf

Easy to install with minimal outside purchased parts.
This manual transfer switch unit (#306c) is easy to install, was a complete kit, had clear easy-to-follow installation instructions (and You Tube videos) and only needed the outside purchase of 15 feet of 10 gauge wire to connect the outside box to the transfer panel. The #306 has the advantage of commonly found, interchangeable ($5) circuit breakers to "customize" it to match the house circuits if needed. It comes with a 10 foot generator to outside box cord, although most manufacturers recommend a 15-25 foot cord to get the generator away from the building.Achat vérifié : OuiÉtat : Neuf

Alternative Power
This transfer switch is just what we needed. You can hook up certain things to it like a clothes washer or a water well, then hook up your generator to it. Then when your electricity goes off, flip the switch to the transfer box and use whatever you want to use whether it’s a washer, lights, water well or any other thing. Generator Transfer Switch works Awesome!!!
We hooked this up, and it was very easy to do. Just make sure you turn off your breaker panel before you begin. If you have never done anything like this before, you might consider an electrician (just to be safe). We hooked up the Generator and confirmed it works perfectly!!! Best for larger generator setups but not so well for smaller portable generators with Nema 5-15
