    Mercury should include a new gasket with it!

    It works like it is supposed to. Tested it in accordance with Mercury Service Manual procedure and it checks out fine. I docked it 1 star because it doesn't come with the rubber gasket that fits around the perimeter of the t-stat. In my experience, such gaskets are throw-away items - you do not reuse them. Mercury should include a new one with the t-stat. Besides, getting the old, hardened gasket off of the old t-stat will pretty much guarantee that it's ruined. Other than that, it's fine.
