  • Love it

It's a great durable flip phone I bought on EBAY for under $100. I had a 6 year old CDMA Samsung Convoy that would not work with my new GSM carrier so I bought a run of the mill $50 flip phone that lasted less than 6 months. The Dura XE is superior to the Convoy (4G vs 3G) and I expect to have it at least 6 years. It has capabilities far beyond my needs (push to talk, email, internet) but it sure feels like it was built to last (like the Convoy).

  • Looks good on the outside...

...unfortunatley, I must've gotten hold of a lemon :( When I was able to activate, the phone wouldn't hold a signal (no bars), see photo attached. Contacted phone service provider who checked our signal...we're fine, but phone wasn't. Refreshed signal, restarted phone multiple times, nothing helped; tested inside and outside, as well as in town--no bars. Battery life wasn't so good after only checking emails, 1/4 to 1/3 used up. Cover and phone looked clean overall, but charge cover (little side plate) wouldn't shut tight, compromising water resistance feature. Finally, the GPS as advertised is NOT a navigational GPS feature...so forget MAPS app, or any app...can't download. That particular feature was really important for me.

  • This does what it needs to do and does it well

Purchased phone for extended road trips, time on a lake or river or lake canoe fishing and knocking around downtown Detroit. It folds up a little bulky but a small price to pay for the worry free adventures. The cladding is decent armor. When I have my iPhone there is greater worry about damaging it. Losing it with all of my personal info etc. This phone does not attract attention in public. It works great for phone calls. I can hear callers clearly. When alone it is awesome on speaker. Very clear. I like keeping it folded and answering calls on speaker. Texting old style is a challenge. Relearning the skill quickly. Not made for intense messaging sessions. I did not buy it for that use. Email works fine. In a pinch I have looked up vendor or restaurants hours or location using Google. It did the job but definitely not a phone for idle surfing. Like messaging. I am happy with the phone for what I bought it for. 3 days out and not charging gives a little freedom.

  • Ok back up phone

It's an older style flip phone. Every time you turn it on it tries to connect to AT&t's online phone book app, which is really annoying. It doesn't do it well, it's not designed to do that kind of thing like smartphones are, it's difficult to navigate through the menus. AT&t is discontinuing support for 2G and 3G signals I actually even 4G if it isn't LTE. That being said this phone is LTE capable which means that after they have totally quit supporting the other signals it will still work which is what it needs to do so while I'm not a fan of the phone features, I can't argue with the fact that it's functional and it will make a phone call which is really what I needed to do at the end of the day I just wish there wasn't so much bloatware and a phone that's not designed to handle it

  • Not so user friendly Rugged Flip Phone

I am VERRY disappointed in the battery life of this phone. Despite the fact that I have the display turned way down, no key backlight and have it set up not to stay lit more than 7 seconds once opened, the battery won't even last a full 24 hours. I thought initially it was just a bad battery since this was not a new phone, so I purchased another brand new battery and it does the same thing. If you talk on your phone a lot it doesn't even last a full day. Plus, if you text and call a lot it has other annoying features. When use your speed dial keys to call someone first you have to hit the speed dial number then you have to press and hold the center button to "call". Then it won't place the call until after you have released the button. So it takes two actions to speed dialing someone. If you go into the contacts, you have to press a button in order to search for a name rather than it defaulting to search mode like other flip phones. When you text not all the normal symbols can be gotten to by pressing the #1 key so if you want to add a & or : you have to change to another text font option to bring it up. The phone is rugged and I can get my e-mail on it or use it as a hotspot, which is nice, but the normal calling, contact searching, texting and battery life are sub par.

  • A GREAT "non-smart" phone!

If you do NOT want a smart phone, but you want a phone for TALKING with fabulous sound quality, ear-piece, mike, speaker-phone, and blue-tooth dongle that works, then go no farther. I had a cheap "dumb" phone because, with the move to smart phones, it seemed nobody was making a "dumb" phone with high quality components. My phone had a tinny rattily speaker, a blue tooth dongle that would cut in and out, bad reception and a battery life of about one day. I finally got sick of it and went on a hunt, looking at every available "non-smart" and "feature" phone out there. I needed a GSM phone and, this Kyocera XE E4710 phone was the ONLY one I could find that seemed to be great in all the right places. And it is! This phone has great battery life IF only used as a phone. Of course, as with any phone, if you leave on blue tooth, WiFi, etc., it will suck the battery dry. But just as a phone, you'll get three-four days average use between charges. I also needed a phone i could just shove into my pocket with tools, screws, nails, etc., that could damage an unprotected touch screen, and this flip phone nicely filled the bill. The fact that the phone is super durable, built to military standards, is a bonus. By the way, I bought this phone as a new "open box" for $89.99, and it is absolutely perfect. There is no sense in spending more to get a sealed box. The only real negative for me is the fact that Kyocera made this phone for AT&T (groan) and I get a SUPER-annoying AT&T pop-up demanding that I connect to their cloud EVERY TIME I try to open contacts. After hours of research I have learned that since I am not an AT&T customer and am outside the US, it seems there is nothing I can do about it, and will have to live with it for the life of the phone. In this day and age of technology, that seems to be an unnecessary affront, but there you go -- that's AT&T for you -- in your pocket and in your face!

  • Kyrocera vs Sonim Military grade phone

both are built like a tanks as they should be. its heavy, some what thick (Sonim is a little larger) but easy to use, menu's are great, with the Kyocera you can have either icon or list menu's, can feel the keys easily, for those who do not want a large flat smart phone and just need a phone, this is it, also the Sonum XP3 XP3800 is a good one, both phones are the 810G/IP68 military grade phones. the kyocera has the better menu's and the Sonim can do wi-fi calling as long as it has at least one network bar. but both are good phones, I just prefer the Kyocera over the Sonim,....

  • Good phone

Other that a couple of AT&T software stupids, this is an awesome phone. Has many features not left on flip phones such as Mobile hotspot, email, short text. Has good sound quality, plays well with Bluetooth headset, has speed dial, and decent voice command. Per usual, ringer could be louder, & vibrator stronger.

  • Would NOT buy this phone again.

Very inconvient to try to use . When I took it it to the ATT store for SIM card he turned it on & lost the Setup Wizard program & it cant , now , be accessed . You must do a bunch of different manuevers to send texts , impossible to create a a contact list ..Not at all like the 2 Samsung Rugby flip phones I have had for 10 + years.
