Curt Echo Brake Controller-A Total Win
Used this yesterday with our 2016 Lance trailler we had just purchased, Loved it! Super easy to set up and to use. We have a 2023 Honda Ridgeline and it was pretty much plug and play after downloading the app. Would recomend to anyone needing a brake controller and has a factory 7-pin trailer connector on their tow vehicle. Great controller!!
Worked flawlessly on a 1200 mile roundtrip journey, plugged into a 2017 GMC Yukon XL that did not come with a factory OEM controller, pulling a 37 foot double axle camper. Worth every penny and super easy to setup and use. Definitely recommend for those that don’t want to hardwire aftermarket contraptions and the best part, I can use it with any truck/trailer and save the settings to it’s retained memory functionality. Very pleased!! Side note, I did secure it with some zip ties as insurance even though it has a rubber strap, it’s an expensive little piece of technology that I didn’t want to chance falling out.Achat vérifié : OuiÉtat : Neuf

Great idea, but two big issues
Great idea, but two big issues for me: - the way you connect this unit to the car's connector is about the worst connection method I have ever seen - it just simply inserts into the car's socket, barely hanging on with no clipping device to secure it. To prevent it from falling out I completely wrapped the unit/connector up in duct tape and that worked to keep it on for the 4 days I used it. - there is very confusing and sparse documentation in the package. Setup is easy, but you need to hunt online for the steps and then follow them to the letter. Counterintuitive to turn bluetooth OFF, then let the Echo app turn it on for you. Spent 30 frustrating minutes trying to get it to detect, finally had to delete everything, start over and let the app find the unit. Then, adjusting the strength was pretty easy. Note: Using an app and bluetooth has NEVER been reliable for me, and using this method to control something as important as a 4,000 lb. trailer is too nerve-wracking. So I uninstalled it and now am using a hardwired unit. MUCH more straightforward, safe and easy to use.Achat vérifié : OuiÉtat : Occasion

can't get the LED light to come on
The led beacon is not lighting up on my Echo controller. The factory wiring harness is properly grounded. Instructions such as engaging the Tow/Haul, hazard flasher, engine running, etc. were followed with my 2014 Ford F150 XLT but apparently the 12V power supply is not reaching the Echo controller. There are no instructions on how to run a power wire directly to the controller, it just mentions bringing it to a CURT facility.Achat vérifié : OuiÉtat : Neuf

Where were these years ago?

Curt Echo Brake Controller Review
This thing is incredible! Didn’t need to drill into my dash, or run any additional wires. Initial use took 2 minutes to set up, and worked flawlessly. It paid for itself 20 minutes into our first trip with our new camper when someone decided it was a good idea to cut me off going up to a red light. Easy Install Works Well
I put this on my pickup which did not have a brake controller and I wanted to pull a camping trailer. This was an easy solution to activate the electric brakes. It is a plug and play deal. I downloaded an app on my phone to adjust the sensitivity of the trailer brakes. I am almost 70 so I kind of hate having to use a phone app, but this was quick and easy. I drove down a street that had virtually no traffic and made the two adjustments. If my memory is correct I adjusted to about 75% sensitivity on both adjustments. Greatest electric braking system I've used the link up is fast and easy. Only recommendation i have is use some electrical tape around the lid as it holds the connection together the plug is heavy all together and will try to unplug so a couple raps of tape and your worries are over also this price is amazing.
