Does it all-for a fraction of the price!
This watch just about has it all. Easy to read/use tri-display, ~8 hour *active* GPS batt life (plenty of time to run a couple marathons-w/ standby:-) Only gripe is that even though you can see elev. gain in your synced activity data (via Bluetooth & the app), it does NOT have "elevation gain" as an active display option (for us trail runners:) It's calculating it. Why not display it Garmin?!?!:-} Anyhoo, other than that, two thumbs up!This watch just about has it all. Overall great
I've been using this watch for several years now. Overall it's a great watch with easy to operate feature. My complaints are small and few: 1) You can't delete just one lap of a run (like when the watch keeps running on that last lap, for hours, because you forgot to turn off your watch... my last Garmin would allow me to delete individual laps) Why is that upgraded, next-gen products tend to drop super convenient features? Happens all the time to my tech stuff. :( 2) The super wide silicone band is too masculine and it causes a rash on my arm occasionally because no circulation can get under there. Would prefer a more skin-friendly band. 3) It's supposed to automatically update the time zone when you cross to another time zone in travel. But it never does. I have to manually set the ... Great watch! Happy with the refurbished 225
I previously owned the 220 and loved it. It was a bit of an adjustment initially getting use to the size and weight of the 225, but having the HR monitor on with watch is a huge plus and worth the moderate extra bulk. Refurbished after a month of use works like new and I am satisfied that I went with the 225 rather than the 220 again. I am also happy I have this rather than the 235 because of the big price difference and the smart features of the 235 seem more like extras; they both have the same stats I am looking for to track my runs and biking. The 225 has all the fitness data you could want to track your runs, and links Garmin Connect syncs well with my team page on Strava.I previously owned the 220 and loved it. My favorite watch for running
The 225 is my third Garmin GPS watch. The other two were the 405CX and the 110. The 225 combines the best features of each of my other two watches, fixes the worst features of those watches, and adds the measuring of my heart rate without me needing to wear a chest strap. I used my 405CX for about 3 years. Overall, it was a pretty nice watch. However, if I selected to display 3 items (metrics/measurements) on the screen at once, some of the numbers were so small, I could not read them (my eyes are not as good as when I was younger). Also, the 405 had so many features, that I found myself confused in the menus scrolling through features I did not really need or care about. The "Bezel" in the 405 didn't always work as well as I felt it should have. I also found that connecting to the ... The 225 is my third Garmin GPS watch. The other two were the 405CX and the 110. The 225 combines the best features of each of my other two watches, fixes the worst features of those watches, and adds the measuring of my heart rate without me needing to wear a chest strap. I also found that connecting to the charging device sometimes didn't work well. this caused the watch to sometimes have trouble charging. It also used a wireless connection to the computer in order to upload to Garmin Connect. And that sometimes failed. In the 225, I can display 3 measurements on one screen and still easily read them, it has easy to navigate menus, and it uses buttons instead of a bezel. As for charging, the 225 has a cradle. But after reading the instructions, I believe the problem with the 405 (and the 110) were probably my fault. The 225 instructions say to rinse off the contacts after each run or they can become corroded. I'm guessing that corrosion probably built up on my two previous watches because I didn't know I needed to rinse them off. Both of those watches charged well when they were new, but developed problems after owning them a couple of years. So, I'm being sure to rinse the 225 after ever run. So far, no charging issues. As for uploading to Garmin Connect. The 225 has the option of connecting through your computer using the charging cradle, or, you can connect through a smart phone using a free Garmin app. The first couple of times I uploaded, I used the cradle. It worked fine. Since then, I've been connecting through my smart phone. It seems to work well also. Now, to discuss what I didn't like about the 110 and how the 225 fixed those. The thing about the 110 that annoyed me the most was it took at least twice as long as the 405 to find the satellites. And, it could not find them if I was inside my house. The 225 is amazing. It can find the satellites when I am inside my home and, if I'm outside, it can find them in about 5 to 10 seconds. That's even way better than the 405 could do. The second thing I had issues with on the 110 was the charging. I discussed this earlier. So, I'll not restate all that. The 225 adds a couple of nice features that were not on either the 405 or the 110. First, there is no longer a need to wear a chest strap to get heart rate readings. For the wrist monitoring to work, I do have to wear the band a little tighter than I normally would wear a watch. But, not so tight that it's painful. It just can't be flopping around. It need to be tight enough to stay in one place on your wrist. And, it needs to be flat on your wrist, above that little bone, not on it. It finds my heart rate very quickly, usually in 5 or 10 seconds while I'm standing still. However, when I start to run, I've noticed a pattern that it seems to lose track of my heart rate and begins showing my cadence as my heart rate (on a normal jog, my cadence is around 160). But, after a half mile or mile, it manages to get back to my real heart rate and has worked fine for the rest of my run. I've experimented with this to try to figure out how to stop it from happening. But, have now accepted that, for me, this is just how it works. And, I'm OK with that. I really don't need to know my heart rate during my warm up, it's when I start pushing that I like the feed back. (my warm up is usually my first half to full mile) The special screen it uses to display the heart rate is kind of fun too. I look at it as the "tachometer for my heart". I first became aware of "Heart Rate Zones" when I bought my 405. They have become very useful to me in my training. The 225 makes it easy to see what zone you are in at a glance. But, you can also select Heart Rate and Heart Rate Zone as measurements to display on other screens. So, you don't have to use the "tachometer" screen if you choose not to. Another nice feature of the 225 is it can be set to vibrate, as well as use tones. Because my hearing is also failing a little as I age, this is a really nice feature. On my 405 and 110, I was not able to hear the notifications when I was finishing a "lap". On the 225, the vibration left me know. I usually know how fast I'm going, but it's still nice to get the vibration notification so I can glance and confirm the exact time. The 225 also has an accelerometer. This does a couple of cool things for you. First, it tracks your steps, which Garmin Connect translates into "Cadence"

Incredible Accuracy
Compared to other GPS watches, this one rocks. Heart beat accuracy is spot on. But there are a few issues. Designed primarily for running not other pursuits. Interface takes awhile to figure out. But for the winter, the wrist pulse beats a chest strap anytime.
