Synopsis
Rigorous, concise, and provocative monograph analyzes the ancient concept of mass, the neoplatonic concept of inertia, the modern concept of mass, mass and energy, and much more., Of fundamental importance to physics and the philosophy of science, the notion of mass had never been given an integrated and coherent historical investigation until the publication of this book. In it, the noted physicist Max Jammer presents a challenging study of the historical development of the concept of mass, a labor that earned him a monograph prize from the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. A rigorous, concise, and provocative book that can be recommended to all serious readers and physicists interested in the foundations of physical science, this volume offers thorough critical and analytical treatment of such topics as the ancient concept of mass; the neoplatonic notion of inertia; the conceptualization of inertial mass; philosophical modifications of the Newtonian concept; the modern concept of mass; mass and energy; the concept of mass in quantum mechanics and field theory; and much more. "Graduate students in physics should find this book a unique introduction to a very vexing problem in their chosen field, even though it is one of the most highly developed scientific disciplines." -- American Scientist. 1964 edition., Rigorous, concise, and provocative monograph analyzes the ancient concept of mass, the neoplatonic concept of inertia, the modern concept of mass, mass and energy, and much more. 1964 edition.

- i***i (18)- Évaluation laissée par l'acheteur.Six derniers moisAchat vérifiéThe seller had problems with his post office, but he followed up, communicated with me, and got the package moving. It arrived today very securely wrapped. The plates are beautiful and exactly as described. Great value! Excellent seller. I won’t fault him for postal inefficiency.
- 8***a (400)- Évaluation laissée par l'acheteur.Six derniers moisAchat vérifiéIt’s hard to be negative about this seller. The item took a little while to ship and USPS media mail took near a month to arrive, not to mention the packing material used was interesting, but in the end I received what I ordered in good condition at a really great price. The seller didn’t complain about having to ship to Alaska and their descriptions / photos left nothing to suprise. Would buy from again.Zadro XL Deluxe Bathroom Towel Warmer - Gold 21” Tall ~ Barely Used #TWBA2000 (#387798722839)
- -***i (231)- Évaluation laissée par l'acheteur.Six derniers moisAchat vérifiéPackaged very well. Seller followed up to make sure it arrived and also communicated with USPS to make sure it got here on time. Description was very detailed and laid out all of the issues with the computer. Seller accepted my offer, and I got a pretty decent deal on this vintage computer from the year I was born. There were some parts of the computer that weren't detailed, such as the corroded clock battery terminal, but that would be excepted with a 41-year-old computer. Overall in good shape
