When it would rain water would soak everything in my trunk. Thanks to buying extra length I got the leak to stop finally. It may look crazy but it works. After I installed the initial strapping I put a piece to go from side to side of trunk not the lid. Then I managed carefully to interlock the original and the extra together. Just a couple inches sticks out on both sides go water will disippitat
