I was able to connect it to the app, and they told me that the item had been retired. When I asked for an explanation they told me that the warranty on my device started when it was activated in January 2021 (it's currently July 2025) and that a replacement for it had been sent out while it was still under warranty rendering this one retired. It was merely repackaged to trick someone to be new.

Unfortunately, the process is let down by eBay International Shipping who take an absurd amount of time to get your item to a shipping hub (nearly three weeks). If you're not in the USA, best to order from Amazon or do what I'll be doing in the future; ship to a US-based freight forwarding company. As I said, this is not the sellers fault. I highly recommend them

Once I notified the seller, they immediately took action to work with me to resolve the issue. The seller - fresh-buy, shipped a replacement Fitbit within a day and it is functioning properly.
