"The authors, grand masters at the game, are eminently qualified to write such a book...Their monograph is a gem and a must-read for any student of quantum physics, from advanced undergraduate to expert."-- Physics Today "This is a wonderfully well-informed book. The authors tackle a difficult subject with beautiful clarity and elegance. It should be required reading for anyone who wishes to explore the quantum wonders of Nature."--A. Synopsis
The counter-intuitive aspects of quantum physics have been for long illustrated by thought experiments, from Einstein's photon box to Schr dinger's cat. These experiments have now become real, with single particles--electrons, atoms or photons--directly unveiling the weird features of the quantum. State superpositions, entanglement and complementarity define a novel quantum logic which can be harnessed for information processing, raising great hopes for applications. This book describes a class of such thought experiments made real. Juggling with atoms and photons confined in cavities, ions or cold atoms in traps, is here an incentive to shed a new light on the basic concepts of quantum physics. Measurement processes and decoherence at the quantum-classical boundary are highlighted. This volume, which combines theory and experiments, will be of interest to students in quantum physics, teachers seeking illustrations for their lectures and new problem sets, researchers in quantum optics and quantum information., The counter-intuitive aspects of quantum physics have been for long illustrated by thought experiments, from Einstein's photon box to Schrödinger's cat. This weirdness is directly displayed in recent experiments juggling with isolated atoms and photons. They are reviewed in this book, combining theoretical insight and experimental description, and providing useful illustrations for learning and teaching of quantum mechanics., Winner of the 2012 Nobel Prize for PhysicsThe counter-intuitive aspects of quantum physics have been for long illustrated by thought experiments, from Einstein's photon box to Schrödinger's cat. I am so happy with my book!!! It was described only as 'Good', but considering that this treasure of a book is from 1984, I definitely consider it as 'Very Good'! The book was shipped in a timely manner, and was packaged with care. It arrived in a bubble mailer, and inside, the book was protected in a thin plastic envelope to protect it from rain. The pictures shown of the book were accurate. I would trust buying from this seller again. Thank you seller! A++++

I’m was very pleased with the communication and care that the seller provided with the packaging. The vintage LIFE magazine was exactly as described. For the price, it was perfect. The shipping was good also. The seller made sure to package the magazine well so that it did t get damaged and communication was fantastic. Like I said I’m very pleased. 👍🏻
