Great receiver
The SR705 was one of the best receivers Onkyo has made (IMO). Extremely adjustable, great sound and power, wide array of inputs, phono amp, multiple (assignable) optical audio inputs, pure audio mode, powered Zone 2, THX. Quite a lot of features that hold up many years later. The only negatives (or potential improvements) deal with the the Zone 2 feature. First, Zone 2 only works with analog sources (this is true for all Onkyo receivers) so that can be somewhat limiting. Second, if you use Zone 2, as I do, for an extended area in a larger room, there is a slight time delay between the main speaker output and the Zone 2 so you get an echo effect in the room. For music this is not really noticeable, but for spoken content (radio commercials) it's like being in a large stadium. I believe many ... Great Stereo!
Great sounding stereo and great features! Onkyo made this receiver at the perfect time with the right features. It’s old enough to be heavy, have a phono port, but it also has HDMI too! Perfect for my old school audio equipment AND my gaming consoles and equipment!

Onkyo TX-SR705 works like new!
This has replaced my old one which started triggering the over protective circuitry. It is a dream to have this one working like the old one had for years. I set it up like it was new and it has been working great ever since. It arrived with an inspection paper which caused me to feel comfortable about the receiver. I receiver it sooner than expected--another plus. If it lasts as long as my first one did I will be extremely happy!This has replaced my old one which started triggering the over protective circuitry. Old but nice
Unit arrived on time. Found instructions on line. Took a long time to connect but probably just paying the price for a versatile receiver. Easy to use and sounds great. Good value.
