Synopsis
The Crewe era of Rolls-Royce and Bentley motor cars has spanned more than 50 years, considerably longer then the previous Manchester and Derby periods, the production of luxury cars being resumed after the Second World War by Rolls-Royce and Bentley in their factory at Crewe, Cheshire, which had been built for the manufacture of Merlin aero engines and production figures of post-war cars have been most impressive. In view of the success of the company it is ironic that in mid-1998 the two marques should be sold to a pair of rival German manufacturers.
