Synopsis
From a celebrated, award-winning author, a modern classic about a young girl fighting for survival in a post-apocalyptic world, perfect for fans of N.K. Jemisin and Margaret Atwood. Fifteen-year-old Lauren Olamina lives inside a gated community with her preacher father, family, and neighbors, sheltered from the surrounding social chaos and anarchy caused by climate change and economic crisis. In a society where any vulnerability is a risk, she suffers from hyperempathy--a debilitating sensitivity to others' emotions. Precocious and clear-eyed, Lauren must make her voice heard in order to protect her loved ones from the imminent disasters her small community stubbornly ignores. But what begins as a fight for survival soon leads to something much more: the birth of a new faith . . . and a startling vision of human destiny. Includes a foreword by LeVar Burton and an afterword by N. K. Jemisin Lauren's story continues in The Parable of the Talents. "In the ongoing contest over which dystopian classic is most applicable to our time, Octavia Butler's 'Parable' books may be unmatched."-- The New Yorker

- 9***3 (87)- Évaluation laissée par l'acheteur.Dernier moisAchat vérifiéDisappointed seller did not note entire book, almost to the page has markups. I get that its used but this detail should be noted. I would not have purchased. Its distracting
- h***0 (3)- Évaluation laissée par l'acheteur.Dernier moisAchat vérifiéI’m very satisfied with my purchase. Although it did arrive a few days late, it was definitely worth $18 for a densely packed, 1000 paged textbook with lots and lots of questions to reinforce your understanding. In terms of the seller and the condition of the book, the seller was very truthful in their description, and marked the book as “acceptable”. I’ve only explored a fraction of the book, and as far as I’m concerned, the majority is “good”. I’m very happy, it looks great, great quality.
- n***k (27)- Évaluation laissée par l'acheteur.Six derniers moisAchat vérifiéItem was as described in listing, safe secure packaging. The item was decently priced. shipping was a little longer than it was supposed to be, it came 5 days late.Room for Rent: A Thriller (#286461551665)
- 4***l (182)- Évaluation laissée par l'acheteur.Six derniers moisAchat vérifiéWow! I received the book I purchased in record time! It arrived in better than expected condition (was listed as Acceptable, but I would call it New). Was packaged securely for mailing. The price was the best I had seen and I couldn't be happier that I decided to buy it. I would definitely buy from this seller again, and would recommend them to others, as well. Thank you, seller!One-Minute Devotions Faith's Checkbook (#286419110601)
