      Inexpensive card = get what you pay for.

      I hate doing this, but... This item was DOA right out of the box. It drops drives at random and then they come back online at random. Apparently, this is a known issue with this card, among other problems. Overall, the build quality is low. The card was installed on a Win 7 Pro 64bit system. Upon installation, card was not recognized at all by Windows. After time messing with the supplied drivers disk and ultimately looking for newest drivers online, I was able to get the correct drivers installed for the Marvell 9215 (92xx) chipset. Didn't help. I tried the drives in another system just to verify the drives were good. I was able to discern that the drives are in fact good. Note: this is NOT a RAID card which I understand and that's fine. But, just wanted to make sure that anyone ...

      Dont need Raid? This is it.

      The card is Mac Daddy, if you dont need raid. I tried numerous other chip sets just trying to add additional HDDs. All the other cards, even if they did not say Raid, could be seen by the BIOS and generally were a PITA to configure. This card is invisible to the BIOS and does nothing till the OS gets in gear to bring it on line. I used 4 1TB drives and stream it with no issues. So if you just want to add drives, nothing fancy, this is it.

      Ok

      I get 135 MB’s a second on 6gbs 7200 rpm drive when intel variants provide 160-170. Not bad for a hba adapter on pci express. Be warned finding the drivers is a bear, but when you do it works at about 5gbs speeds

      Good card for the price.

      I gave this an excellent rating for the price. There are better cards out there. But this card worked well with 7200 rpm HDD's. It did not work well with an SSD. For SSD's, it is best to connect them directly to the Motherboard. I am using this card in a Lenovo desktop m91p in my PCI-e slot.
