Jornada 540 series: old school but still useful
The Jornada 540 series is old school but I have always loved its sound quality when using it as a music player. To play music on a Compact Flash card you have to create a My Documents folder on the CF and put the music files in that folder, otherwise the Jornada media player can't "see" them. This particular Jornada was "parts only" but just needed a new battery, also sourced through eBay; the upgraded 1800 mAh battery came with the tools required to change it for the OEM battery and it is easy to do. I received my first 540 as a gift when they were new and it is still going strong. A sister gave me hers recently and it also works except the speaker has failed in the past few weeks however the earphone jack still works with the soind quality I mentioned before.
