Product Information

It's hard to believe THE GODFATHER filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola was also responsible for this charming, whimsical musical. Fred Astaire stars in his last full-length musical role as Finian McLonergan. In Ireland, Finian manages to steal a pot of gold from unlucky leprechaun Og (Tommy Steele). Finian and daughter Sharon (Petula Clark) journey to Rainbow Valley in America and join the townspeople there in defending themselves against the racist Senator Billboard Rawkins (Keenan Wynn). The buried gold becomes the lucky crock that helps Og, Finian, and the townspeople fulfill their dreams.

    Fun nostalgic family-friendly movie

    I loved this movie as a kid, and I am so pleased to now own this film on DVD. The colors and music are wonderfully enhanced, and watching the movie brought back so many fond memories. Although this is an older movie, I believe that it can still be a wonderfully entertaining experience for the right audience. I am not a fan of all musicals, but this one has always held a special spot in my heart (likely due to my love of Irish lore, and the hilarious Tommy Steele playing the adorable leprechaun, "Og"). In my opinion, this is one of the best renditions of "Finian's Rainbow", and I highly recommend this to anyone seeking a very funny and heartwarming film with an interesting storyline and some great music.

    Fun movie with a great storyline

    Bought this DVD for my mom who has been looking for the movie. The characters are funny, cute, and relatable. The actors did a wonderful job, especially the actor playing the leprechaun. There are some moments in the film where a racial issue will come about, so be forewarned that this old movie may be found to be offensive to some. Even so, the film is about growing in character, fairness, justice, and being taught lessons of right and wrong.
