For small office setups, it is more viable to implement a LAN using a wired connection for the consistent performance, speed and stability this type of connectivity provide. Including the fact that wired networks are generally less expensive to manage and maintain. With the NetGear GS116 interconnecting your LAN devices, you get a cost-effective switching solution that does not compromise on quality and security. The GS116 model comes from the NetGear ProSafe family of gigabit unmanaged switches that offers a variety of port configurations and form factors. Optimized for gigabit Ethernet, this unit includes 16 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX/1000BASE-T RJ45 ports that enable you to connect up to 16 wired devices, including desktop computers, laptops, gaming consoles, printers, servers and storage hardware. Transfer data at 10 times the speed of fast Ethernet or up to 1000 megabits per second (Mbps) when the switch is operating in half-duplex mode. For even faster connectivity, enable full-duplex mode to achieve data transmission speeds of up to 2000 Mbps. Integrated with auto-switching and auto-sensing capabilities, each port automatically detects the speed and type of duplex operation of an attached device. The port then configures itself to the appropriate setting to ensure optimum network-wide performance. Combined with the Auto Uplink technology, ports automatically adjust for cross-over or straight-through cables. This frees you from worrying about which Ethernet cable to use when configuring your LAN. With a non-blocking backplane bandwidth of 32 gigabits per second, this switch also features the store and forward packet switching functionality. This NetGear GS116 unit includes support for several networking standards defined by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). This device is 802.1p-compliant, which provides quality of service (QoS) at the media access control level. With QoS integrated into the switch, traffic is controlled and congestion is minimized. Bandwidth-intensive tasks, including video streaming, web conferencing, downloading large files and playing games, get higher priority than low-latency processes. By managing bandwidth utilization, LAN quality is not degraded and peak performance is maintained throughout your LAN. Built with exceptional power savings features, this NetGear product helps you reduce your energy consumption by up to 43 percent. The device includes an auto power-down mode that disables unused ports. When shorter wires are used in connecting devices, power delivery is also minimized.       Good ol' Netgear!!

      Good ol' Netgear!! Pay close attention when you buy these switches, look for models that start with GS not FS. GS is 10/100/1000 ports, FS is 10/100. Otherwise its a solid performer!! We use these at our properties where we don't have space for a rack mounted size switch. These are fanless so don't install them in areas that aren't climate controlled. othwerwise I'd say I've bought about 15 of these no issues, lifetime warranty

      Great product, Plug and Play!!

      Just what I needed for my home. Used to connect to my Starlink router adapter tfor internet access to all my rooms I hard wired with CAT5E. Simple set up, plug in power, plug cables in and its up and running. Works great, really a plug and play device. Price was right and shipping was fast!!! Hard to beat when this Netgear product has a Lifetime warranty. Already thinking about buying another or upgrading to a 24 port :).

      Straightforward Gigabit Switch

      Nice solid gigabit wired switch, if all you want is more ports behind your existing router/cable modem for equipment that doesn't support WIFI. It set up in under 5 min. If you need to do any kind of configurable routing or filtering on your network you need a more complex product than this, but if you don't, this is a great deal.

      Works like a charm

      Super easy to set up. All needed to be done is to plug in the power and the Ethernet cables. Its able to work with both normal cables and cross-over cables. Also able to stream and transfer contents and able to play LAN games without lags or disconnects

      Small, compact, in a heavy-duty metal enclosure

      This switch was a plug and play installation for my application where I needed to expand an Ethernet, Win 10, P2P network beyond the traditional 4-ports provided on a DSL 7550 router. In addition, workstation to workstation inter-communicate up to 1-Gbs speeds while the existing router feeds the network with internet up to 100-Mbs.
