Synopsis
Master storyteller Alan Moore ( Watchmen ) delivers twelve interconnected stories of lust, madness, and ectasy, all set in central England and spanning over six thousand years, the narratives woven together in patterns of recurring events, strange traditions, and uncanny visions. First, a cave-boy loses his mother, falls in love, and learns a deadly lesson. He is followed by an extraordinary cast of characters: a murderess who impersonates her victim; a fisherman who believes he has become a different species; a Roman emissary who realizes the bitter truth about the Empire; a crippled nun who is healed miraculously by a disturbing apparition; an old crusader whose faith is destroyed by witnessing the ultimate relic; two witches, lovers, who burn at the stake. Each related tale traces a path in a journey of discovery of the secrets of the land. In the tradition of Kipling's Puck of Pook's Hill , Schwob's Imaginary Lives , and Borges' A Universal History of Infamy , Moore travels through history, blending truth and conjecture, in a novel that is dazzling, moving, sometimes tragic, but always mesmerizing. This edition presents Voice of the Fire for the first time in hardcover format, with full color illustrations by Jose Villarrubia., Master storyteller Alan Moore ( Watchmen ) delivers twelve interconnected stories of lust, madness, and ectasy, all set in central England and spanning over six thousand years, the narratives woven together in patterns of recurring events, strange traditions, and uncanny visions. - r***v (93)- Évaluation laissée par l'acheteur.Dernier moisAchat vérifiéGood value and as described. Packaged heavily in bubble wrap but in a box that was skin tight. I had to cut box away from item. Packaging tightness caused a potentiometer shaft to break off. Easy to repair. Seller quick to communicate and offered to file a claim with the carrier. Shipping was quick and the box was not damaged and showed no sign of being handled roughly.
- d***i (52)- Évaluation laissée par l'acheteur.Six derniers moisAchat vérifiéItems were as described. Seller got the items shipped very quickly and they arrived in just 4 days. Since they are slightly fragile they Seller put plenty of packing in the box to avoid any damage while shipping. Seller offered a good price for the items and I am very please with my purchase. I would definitely buy from this Seller again.
- k***e (1091)- Évaluation laissée par l'acheteur.Six derniers moisAchat vérifiéWhat an excellent eBay sellers. The quality of the comic is excellent. The packaging was superb. The comic is much better than described and the value was appropriate to market rates. Notably, this was posted from the US and arrived three days earlier than expected.
