2016 release, the fourth album from acclaimed Grammy nominated singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Sarah Jarosz. Unlike her previous albums, which have intricate arrangements performed on a variety of instruments, Undercurrent features a newfound confidence and a more minimalist production, focused on Jarosz's upfront vocals and most personal songwriting to date. Sarah's first album, Song Up in Her Head, was released in 2009 and was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category of Best Country Instrumental Performance. Her second album, Follow Me Down, released in 2011, received a "Song of the Year" nomination from the Americana Music Associations 2012 Honors and Awards. Her third album, Build Me Up from Bones, was released on September 24, 2013 through Sugar Hill Records. Build Me Up from Bones was nominated for Best Folk Album at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards, and it's title track was nominated for Best American Roots Song.

    Incredible as always

    This is Sarah's most mainstream, pop-sounding album to date. She plays banjo on only one song, the haunting "Lost Dog." Her friend Sara Wadkins plays fiddle on one song. Even these two songs are very different from the alt-bluegrass sound that Sarah was known for in her earlier work. It is a stripped-down, singer-songwriter album, more melancholy than upbeat. As on her previous album, there is some electric guitar added to the mix, with Jedd Hughes again contributing in this vein(as well as accompanying Sarah on her current tour). Sarah wrote or co-wrote all the songs, no covers. Four of the songs are just Sarah with a guitar, with no other instrumentation. All that being said, I love this album. Sometimes, when you listen to an album, you can tell that it is exactly the album the artist ...

    Folksy stylings with relevant lyrics and catchy beats.

    I listen to Sarah Jarosz regularly and love hearing her sing meaningful and deep songs. Add in a fiddle and banjo and I'm in a happy place when I'm listening to her songs.
