        THE "Mysterious Island"

        The '61 British version of Jules Verne's classic is far superior to all that followed. The story of a group of Civil War prison escapees swept away in a hot air balloon to a mysterious island filled with oversized plants and animals is a sheet delight! The lesser known actors led by Michael Craig and Gary Merrill are perfectly cast. The script is ingenious and underrated in my view with memorable line after line. Other highlights-Legendary composer, Bernhard Herman's fantastic score and Ray Harryhausen's ground breaking animation. Just as good the 20th time as it is the first!

        What a great childhood memory, my father and I watched this movie together, it's still a great watch for me, it's a movie that will always take me back to my childhood, this DVD is used but it looks brand new, no scratches,no problems at all, this is the only online video store that I will buy from, quality with each and every DVD and free shipping,I'm delighted with my purchase.

        One of the Great Moving Animation Films of the Early 1960s

        This is one of the great moving animation films that was a showcase achievement for stop motion animation artist Ray Harryhausen. The story is by none other than a Jules Verne (adopted to a screen treatment) science fiction of Union and Confederate soldiers who escape the battles around Richmond in a severe storm, are taken out to sea, and then land at Mysterious Island to encounter large creatures, pirates, and Captain Nemo who helps them. The DVD also has an excellent feature about Ray Harryhausen and his career.

        Great Early Special Effects
