"Unreal Tournament" is an exciting, multiplayer first-person shooter game made by Epic Games, and it uses Epic’s famous Unreal Engine, which means that you will have developed serious gaming chops by the time you master all the content in this game. "Unreal Tournament," which was released in a pre-alpha version in 2014, is the ninth title in the Unreal series of PC games by Epic. The first game in the series was the classic FPS game "Unreal," with a release date of 1998. The world in which "Unreal Tournament" is set is one of postwar chaos. There is nothing to do but fight in order to rebuild a community from scratch. Specifically, the war that has just ended was fought between reptile-like creatures called Skaarj and beings called Necris, which were created by an evil corporation called Phayder. "Unreal Tournament" is strictly a PC game, but the types of computer hardware that support it include Microsoft Windows, Linux, and OS X. The game is rated M because violence is central to the gameplay and because the game includes adult language and graphic blood and gore. Because of the many events and playing venues that "Unreal Tournament" encompasses, it is actually many different games in one. Depending on your mood, you are able to play on a team or take on the world by yourself. You are even able to play in a floating castle, train, ship, Egyptian tombs, or submarine. Some of Unreal Tournament’s events are strategy-based, such as Capture the Flag, where your team must search for the opposing team’s flag and then fight to take possession of it while others, like Deathmatch, are just about combat and fending for yourself. Meanwhile, some of the events in "Unreal Tournament," such as Warfare, Bombing Run, and Assault, are more like traditional team sports, except with a futuristic combat theme. For example, in Warfare, each team has a set of vehicles called nodes. Your team must destroy your opponents’ nodes by shooting at them with various weapons while protecting your own nodes. In Assault, the object of the game is to reach your opponent’s base while preventing members of the opposing team from reaching yours. Bombing Run is similar to basketball if basketball was played by cyborgs and giant reptiles. In the team events of "Unreal Tournament," you can have up to 10 players on a team. Choose your teams or be assigned to teams with random players. People like to play "Unreal Tournament" not only because of the thrilling in-game action but also because of the thriving online community that surrounds the game. Discussion forums remain active for "Unreal Tournament," and it is very frequent that user suggestions will give rise to a new mod or even to new games in the series. Crowdsourcing has been a part of "Unreal Tournament" since the earliest stages of its development, and input from fans has been an integral part of the Unreal universe since its inception.
