The emotional, hard-hitting tale of a former L.A. gang member who returns to his neighborhood from prison resolved to steer his young son away from street-gang life, SOUTH CENTRAL is a no nonsense drama from director Steve Anderson. Deuce gang member Bobby Johnson has just been released from prison. He returns to his old neighborhood to find a few surprises: First, Bobby learns he has a son, Jimmie. But Carole, Jimmie's mother, is now a drug addict and the lover of fellow gang member Ray Ray. To make matters worse, the local pusher-pimp, Genie Lamp, hires a thug to force Bobby to take heroin. Vengeful, Bobby kills Genie and is sent to prison, this time for 10 years.While serving his sentence, Bobby transforms himself from die-hard delinquent to righteous radical only to discover that his Jimmie -- now also involved with the Deuces -- was shot while robbing a car. Hopefully, Bobby will make it out of prison in time to be a real father to his son.

    A fascinating tale of a man's life turned for gangster to insightful with open eyes. His mistakes and fortunate experiences lead him to learn to be a better person and seek out his son to prevent him from following in his criminal footsteps and ending up in prison, or dead. O.G. Bobby Johson meets his newboard son after leaving prison, on to lose him again by going back months later. His time in jail changes him when a lifer imates sets him on the right path after he learnes his former parter Ray Ray Dewitt, now head of the Duece gang, is turning his son into criminal which ends up putting his son, Jimmy, in the hospital at the age 10.     Classic movie

    Good movie works fine no skipping no scratches. Hard to find a used one at such a fair price. I look forward to watching South Central a hundred more times. ❤️👍🏿

    Hoover Groovers stories

    Highlights experiences of the 80s and early 90s in LA with gang rivalries, drug turf, territories, and families torn between allegiance to gangs and their family responsibility. This movie was highly underrated and should've gotten more publicity and praise.
