Product Information

The sixth and final season of this cult series was most famous for the departure of series star Rob Morrow and the addition of his replacement, played by comedian Paul Provenza. Despite shakeups in cast, NORTHERN EXPOSURE kept the balance between comedy and drama that made it a fan favorite. Set in the fictional Alaskan town of Cicely, the dramedy's plot is driven by its well-drawn characters. Dr. Joel Fleischman (Morrow) is a New York City doctor forced to work in the northern state to repay medical school loans. Cicely is a town populated by unusual characters, including an ex-con-turned-philosopher DJ (SEX AND THE CITY'S John Corbett), an ex-astronaut millionaire (Barry Corbin), and a feisty pilot-landlady (Janine Turner). When Morrow left partway through the season, Provenza and his TV wife played by Teri Polo (MEET THE PARENTS) filled the void and the series continued for the rest of the season. This set features the final 23 episodes, as well as deleted scenes never seen by the series' devoted fans.

    It's not the best season of this series

    I have seen the entire series, and this last season is not its best, but it is still okay. I think the great writers of the first 4 seasons found work elsewhere, and some other writers came on board, because the stories were uneven and disconnected in a way that was kind of grating. Perhaps because the earlier series were so exceptional, the contrast was more glaring than it might have been. Still, if you are a binge watcher, you need to watch this final season to have "closure"! The higher price for this final season to that of the earlier ones can only be explained by less competition in the listings, because the earlier seasons prices were reasonable, but the 6th was too much for less quality.

    A Very Easy Show To Watch

    I enjoy this series very much. It's quirky funny and has a likable cast of characters. Some of the dream sequences are kinda weird but they are A-OK with me because I also like the old, Twilight Zone series. It's too bad season 6 was the last one. They could have extended it a few more seasons with no problem.

    Quirky comedy from first season to last

    Great series about a fish out of water big city doctor who moves to a small, remote town in Alaska to pay off his student debt. Great fun as he interacts with the locals and visitors who are passing through.
