Headstrong, rich, beautiful and capable
Phryne Fisher is an Australian woman, living in the Roaring '20s, who does exactly as she pleases. She has money, fabulous clothes and car, and an abiding interest in seeing justice done, so she has entered the profession of Lady Detective as it says on her (engraved, not printed) card. With the aid of her faithful companion, Dot, and her minions Bert and Cec, she looks for the clues the police are missing -- and usually finds them. This is one of the few series that comes across as well on video as it does in the (vastly entertaining) books they're based on.Phryne Fisher is an Australian woman, living in the Roaring '20s, who does exactly as she pleases. Beautiful Female Private Detective in 1920s Australia
This previously poor, but now wealthy woman became bored in high society in Britain, so returns to the Australia where she was born, and becomes a private detective. Acting well outside a typical female role of the time, Miss Phryne Fisher is a beautiful flapper, drives a fast car, can pilot a plane, is physically active, is sexually aware, and owns and uses a gun. As a private detective, this Australian import series shown on PBS, shows this bright "Sherlockian" detective solving mysteries with her maid "Dot," and coterie of supporting characters. The series' police detective "Jack," is both attracted to Miss Fisher and frustrated by her "not always welcome" involvement in police criminal investigations. This entertaining series is adapted from Kerry Greenwood's books. Fully ... Great series to get hooked on.
Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries are wonderful. Not to heavy, but just enough to keep you guessing. I love the costumes! The fact that there are more in this series is an added pleasure. I never have to think twice about re-watching, I find something new each time.

Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries DVD Show
Great series set in Australia. Fun characters, interesting and engaging. This series ended after only 3 seasons but is a great addition to any murder mystery fans along with the likes of Hercule Perot, MidSomer Murders or Sherlock Holmes fans. Miss Fisher is like a turn of the century female James Bond who is a liberated women from poverty and works closely with the police force and a certain Inspector to solve murders. Fun show but there are some scenes that may be a bit off putting to American Audiences so just a word of caution. Great series set in Australia. Fun characters, interesting and engaging.
