We got it home, noticed that not only one of the keys didn't work (which he said was listed in the original post), when we used it with one of the plug in programs we had, two other keys were periodically fading in and out. I started the process with the return immediately and when I was typing up the description, I mentioned the "G" key not working, but did not notate the other issue. Completely on me... however, the seller had a 30-day return policy for any reason. Now he is harrasing me.

Great Programable Controller
Keys feel good, pads feel good and plenty of buttons, knobs and sliders to work with. It's constructed well and relatively heavy but not too heavy. It does not move when you play it. I use Logic Pro and have been able to assign the sliders, knobs and buttons to do what I need. I basically started from scratch and threw out all akai's presets and software. It now works great and I can get it to do whatever I need. There are three banks of all the sliders, knobs and buttons so you can assign each bank to control something different or a combo of things for each bank. The programmable lights for the drum pads are great and fun to play around with. There are four banks for the drum pads and you can assign a different color combo for each bank. This keyboard rocks!
This keyboard rocks! It was a little pricey but we are having a great time playing with all of its features. The MPK249 has some beautiful presets that make it easy to work with popular DAWs like Reason, Logic & Cubase. Using the drum pad is awesome and so is assigning the sliders to control knobs & parameters on vst instruments. We have yet to utilize all features, but we are very happy so far with this midi keyboard.This keyboard rocks! It was a little pricey but we are having a great time playing with all of its features. The developers at akai definitely stepped up their game with the MPK249. The key action feels a whole lot better and for me the highlight are the new pads! Not only do the feel better and better constructed but you can color assign the pads. Well...that may not be a necessity but it is pretty freakin cool!!! Spend your money on the new one. You might save 100-150 between the first and second one but trust me you will not regret the purchase especially if you're a beat maker and into triggers etc... Solid midi controller
Perfect in working with logic pro tools and reason DAWs. It's not as light as one would believe a 49 to be but with semi weighted keys 8knovs and faders 16 pads it's a good buy for music professionals if you don't necrsssarily need a 61

Love it!
I purchased this controller to for my studio and I love it. It has met and surpassed my expectations. It is very responsive and works great controlling my DAW. Another great product from Akai!
