This thing is the tank of laptops
This base of this machine has been around for ten years.....YES, Apple should have upgraded it in a better way but, they are too big to know why. The laptop can be upgraded to 8gb easily but, the nicest upgrade - sporting almost a 3X speed upgrade - you can put almost ANY SSD drive into this on the cheap! I keep a dongle so that I can plug into a bigger screen and, I carry a Bluetooth mouse. I like the fact that the battery is NOT built into the top case so, again, something that I can change three years down the road.This base of this machine has been around for ten years.....YES, Apple should have upgraded it in a better way but, they are too big to know why. Great for a small screen laptop
The only reason I don't give this 5 stars is that Apple and retailers don't max out the RAM. With All the Macs I've had, every one needed the maximum amount of memory they will take. And with El Capitan OS it really needs 16 GB, period. That's one major reason I bought this; because I can upgrade the RAM. It's much more powerful than my old Macbook and fits the case I had for it.

Unbelievably Fast!!!
I'll keep this short and sweet. I have owned at least 8 PC's over the years, none of them performed that well or even survived after 2 or 3 years use. But this 2012 Apple MacBook Pro 13" i7 Intel Processor 2.9 gHz to 3.6 gHz Turbo with 1 TB SSHD that I bought in USED, LIKE NEW CONDITION is the absolute best computer I have ever used. It's so fast that if you blink your eyes when you click the mouse to to respond to a program, it will be on your screen before you open your eyes. I have 3 MacBook Pro's and they are all fast, but this one is incredible! It would take me all day to explain why you should buy one of these, but I don't have that kind of time. The best I can tell you is...HAVE YOU BOUGHT ONE YET? IF NOT, WHY HAVEN'T YOU? I'll keep this short and sweet. APPLE last of the breed
This is the last of the apple laptop 7 series: allows you to upgrade RAM on mother board yourself, + has super drive built in. Fast machine, best deal around, Highly recommend

Good on paper
The only reason this MacBook doesn't have 4 stars is because I had to replace the thunderbolt battery compartment. I believe that what it's called. I had to get it fixed shortly after I received it because yet never charged correctly. After replacing the battery, charger and resetting the SMC and PRAM/NVRAM. Once I find a store where I'm located abroad I had it serviced. Because of the language barrier I don't remember the actual technical term. However it works like a charm now.
