    Very much enjoying these earlier dramatizations of Jane Austen's works.

    I was somewhat leery of buying used DVDs but so far there has been only one small blip in quality -- and that happens with new DVDs occasionally too. These early dramatizations of Jane Austen's wonderful stories lack the glitzy production values of later remakes, but the screenplays are well-written and the acting is top-notch. If you have seen only the lovely 2007 dramatization of Northanger Abbey, which I love, you will be surprised by this creepy earlier version. The 1980 dramatization of Pride and Prejudice alone is worth the price of the set -- it is my favourite version!

    if u like the classics, and like older BBC adaptations, this is worth a look.

    personally, once u get past the production value of the times, including the cameras, these are very well adapted versions of the novels. maybe i am weird, but i enjoy it. when it comes to ranking the adaptations i would place it as: 1) Pride & Prejudice 2) Emma 3) Persuasion 4) Mansfield Park 5) Northanger Abbey 6) Sense & Sensibility (great adaptation and writing, but bad cameras and budget)

    Pretty bad.

    This set of DVDs was obviously recorded from TV. Poor picture quality, poor sound quality and no closed captioning available to at least be watchable and figure out what was going on.

    depressing

    I appreciated the movie as a detailed represented interpretation. but they all were so long. This made it hard to stay interested. The personalities were emotionless. All the characters a seemed sad. Jane Austen writes with charm & wit.
