Flimsy
Purchased my first Hot Shot 1988. One day after warranty expired reservoir spring broke. Sunbeam was gracious and mailed me a new Hot Shot. Spring broke after 6 years,replaced it myself and that one lasted until last month 2021. Model 6131 which I just purchased looks great ,but is not sturdy. Stand bends forward during dispensing, and reservoir drains too slow and not completely . Reservoir lid is flimsy and came unhinged.on first use,lid hinges or just to Flimsy. Easy to Use and saves time and money
While it's not easy to clean, it mostly doesn't need to be cleaned unless there is mineral buildup and, even then, the machine is inexpensive enough to be replaced.. Probably pays for itself in electricity savings. Mostly it's fast and convenient. This is my third and each has lasted for several years of daily use.

Design problem
I like it. I had one years ago. I don't have to run the stove to boil water for 1 cup of coffee with this thing. Only problem is when dispensing the water. You press down on the release tab and the water just trickles out. I swear it takes almost as much time for the water to come out as it did to boil it. You have to press down on it so hard I'm afraid some day it will break. I've read other reviews that mention the same problem. I guess if you're careful and you're aware of this problem and use caution, it's a nice product for a quick cup of coffee. I did write Sunbeam and told them about it.I like it. I had one years ago. Sunbeam's black Hotshot - basic and OK
I had a black Sunbeam Hotshot ten years ago. It dispensed water slowly. This new one does the same. That Hotshot lasted about 5 years. Prior to my new black Hotshot, I had a white one that also came with a cup; and it ran several times a day till after 8 years of service it died. The new one is basically "good."

It's the best way to heat hot water fast
I've had a hot shot for over 35 years. It's just the easiest way to make hot water. Thankfully I can get one on eBay -
