Poorly thought out engineering
While “brifters” seem to be a normal part of the bicycling experience these days, they tend to be overly complex and fussy. The 105 ST-R7000 set is no different in that regard. Also it is priced exceptionally high considering the quality of materials used in its construction. At this price level I would expect titanium in places where Shimano has chosen to use die cast zinc pot metal. They index shifting feature works nicely with the derailleurs designed specifically to work with them. Not so much with other derailleurs. As brake levers, they are comfortable and seem sturdy, the hoods fit my hands comfortably and seem durable. Back to the shifter aspect- the older left side brifter sets had the capability to operate as double or triple chainring shifters- not so with these. I have a triple ... I have a triple chainring that I use and like very well and now am forced to abandon one of its sprocket options simply because Shimano has decided that no one really needs three chainrings for road use!! When doing a half or full century in the US, mountains are usually involved, so a wider gearing spread is appreciated. My personal setup is 53/46/30 with an 11 or 12 rear high and.a 30 or 32 low. This brifter set will be sold as soon as I can locate an older set with triple chainring capability as well as 11 speed rear functionality.

Works great!
I have this working with a 105 rear derailleur and a GRX front. I’m also using Avid/SRAM BB7 road brakes. Easy installation and smooth operation.

Rare design flaw on some models
Great shifter but I seem to have gotten a rare left shifter with a design flaw that prevents me from shifting from the small ring to the big front ring. Some lubrication of the whole shifter solved it temporarily but i'll need to have it warranted

Love the new shifters!
I installed these shifter/brakes on my bike and love them. I have about 100 miles on them and they work great, very ergonomic and accurate shifters.
