A decent quality reel with bang for your buck!!
This Shimano iX 1000R reel is a good deal for the price. It has a trigger on it that will allow you to cast it with one hand. It will flip the bail open and allow you to cast with one hand. I have had one for several years and it is of good quality. It is best for UL to Light fishing combos and has always worked well for me. It has the drag on the rear which allows you to adjust the drag easily while you are fighting a fish. I think the reel is mainly graphite which is lite. Actually, if you buy the iX 4000R model it is big enough for Light Saltwater fishing and the graphite reel will not rust because there is NO metal to rust. Shimano IX1000R reel review
It’s an excellent ultralight reel for the price. Rear drag for easy adjustment. Quick Fire II line pick up. Capacity 100 yds of 6#. Our older son’s first rod and reel are a 33 year old version paired with a Shimano FX 5’6” UL, and he still fishes it. The FX 5’0” UL rod is also a great bargain that can handle channel cats to 6#s.

Big bang for the buck
Great reel for the money. Rugged, simple design is equally at home in the hands of a beginner to veteran angler. Rear drag system is positive and precise. Smooth cranking and positive bail action coupled with a removable Quick Fire lever make this reel an unbeatable value.

Great quality, one of the best bang for the buck in fishing.
Awesome reel,great for small streams and repetitive casting. Ive had these reels outlast other name brands two to one.

My go to reel.
I have at least 25 of these reels between the ix1000, ix2000 and the ix4000. I use them for everything I fish for. Even salt water. Never broke one of them, so they are reliable Love the rear drag and the trigger. .
