This Onkyo amplifier is designed to create a powerful audio experience with the help of a number of unique features. This item is exactly as described. The shoes were very well packaged having plastic wrap all around the box multiple times to protect them from moisture during shipping. The Post Office delivered them about 6 days later than estimated … they were held up in Indiana for some reason. Busy time of year for Postal workers. Anyway, that’s no fault of the seller. Onkyo M-5160 Amplifier
Like all Onkyo products, this amp is top notch. Powerful, clean sound, very low distortion. What little there is is at inaudible levels. Good speaker and output protection circuitry. Solidly built, too. If I have one gripe, it is the spring tab speaker connections. Most other Onkyo gear has large binding posts. But it is easy to drill some holes and add 5-way binding posts just above the spring tab block. I've done this on several of these amps. This particular M-5160 came to me in near mint condition. While the M-5150 and M-5160 are 150 watts per channel, the similar M-5130 and M-5140 are 105 watts per channel. There really isn't any audible difference. I cannot tell you what the difference is between the M-5130 and M-5140, nor the difference between the M-5150 and M-5160. ... Like all Onkyo products, this amp is top notch. From the service manuals, schematic, and looking at these amps they are the same. These amps all use the large Sanyo output IC's, which bundle drivers and output transistors in one big package. I've never toasted one so see no advantage to having "discrete" parts vs. these big chips. The Sanyo IC's minimize parts count, which to me is good. The amp is well laid out internally, with a very generous heat sink. No noisy fan, nor is one necessary. These Onkyo amps are a great choice for the audiophile!

Good value for the money but received with some corner damage (only cosmetic) functions fine.
Product must have had a hard ride with the delivery company as one of the corners of the chassis was bent, face plate and power transformer can be seen to be tilted. Electronically the Amplifier appears to be ok, amplifies sound and drives my Polk Audio speakers sufficiently with a little detectable hum but acceptable. It is a good value for the money I paid, isn't it all about perspective? I'm not disappointed but unless I would speak with the person buying it I couldn't recommend it without knowing their circumstances. I have owned numerous onkyo unit over the years and never been disappointed by quality of sound or ability to continually preformed over the years, this unit is 150 rms per side a power house. My purchase looked like a new amp excellent condition. I am currently using Klipsch, DCM & Magnepan speakers and this amp wlil drive any pair. Lover of stereo, especially the old stuff, I cuuently own Mcintosh, Eagle 2 (John Iverson) & of course Onkyo. Vintage onkyo amp
The new onkyo products , i don't know . They don't impress me that much . But this amp , by the way , made in Japan is a real killer amp , capable to compete with the best ones out there and even beat them . It was a steal , of course , for the price . I had to order special banana plugs to hook up the speakers wires . That's an old amp , what do you expect ? Other than that , i am happy .
