  • holy cow this is nice

at first when i got this i was confused on how to get it all working. it took a couple days of tinkering around installing, reinstalling, tweeking, coffee, a few swear words and boom i'm driving down the back stretch at indy doing 240 mph. it looks amazing and you dont need sensors. the resolution is superior to other VR sets. the built in AKG headphones work very well for gaming and transmit 360 degree sound as you turn your head in VR. its comfortable enough to wear for over an hour at a time and the cord is long enough to put your pc off to the side ( but it could use another couple feet of length ) Its compatible with most vive and oculus games and steam. the helmet has adjustments for eye correction, main volume control and lets in very little ambient light.

  • Great HMD, Terrible Controller Inspection

TLDR; My right controller likes to shut itself off despite the fact I put new and fresh batteries in it. The controller is just defective and I want the whole purchase refunded due to already spending extra money on this trying to get it to work. I've seen one other review of this purchase, I am quite frankely, upset with my purchase a little bit. I've had the HMD since September of 2019. I've spent, MONTHS, and an additional $100 trying to get the right motion controller to work properly. The retailer specifically advertises the product as "Manufacturer Refurbished: Grade A, Like New." But, if the right controller doesn't function properly, then someone isn't doing their job. I shouldn't be super upset aobut it as it is just the right controller. If you read this, and you see this ...

  • Perfect. Arrived in excellent quality with zero issues.

Perfecto. These are a good way to save some money. The only real differences to this and the Vive Cosmos is the tracking is better on the COSMOS because it uses tracking sensors rather than just stereoscopic cameras and that it has a wireless version. The Samsung Odyssey+ is tethered via cable instead of wireless technology. Other than that, Samsung Odyssey+ hits the same resolution 2880x1600 (1440x1600 per eye), Field of View (FOV) 110°, and refresh rate as the Vive series of VR HMD (90hz). I highly recommend the Samsung. The flip-up display on other VR HMD seem to be problematic many times.

  • Great VR for the money.

I already owned an Oculus Rift but the lines in the picture were very annoying. I read that the Odyssey Plus corrected this problem so I figured I would give it a try. The picture is much more clear with no lines but not as sharp. Performance is pretty much identical to the rift. The Odyssey Plus has a volume control feature on the headset which the rift does not have. The controllers are larger and a little heavier but work just as well. The only drawback with the Odyssey is that you are forced to use it with Steam because Samsungs VR store and Windows VR store don't even come close to the content in the Oculus store.

  • Not ready for prime time.

Samsung Odyssey is state of the art for stereoscopic headsets today (May 2018), but still pretty crude. While it is considered the best among headsets currently available, expect it to be obsolete in 2 years. It has adjustment for pupillary distance but not diopter, and both are wanted for good stereo vision. The headset is uncomfortable, heavy, and its USB+HDMI cable for audio and video is cumbersome. I find the hand controls so clumsy as to be nearly useless, but are reportedly less uncomfortable than those bundled with other Windows Mixed Reality (WMR) headsets. Software betrays gaming heritage, meaning deliberately making operation unobvious. Relatively little software is plug-and-play; most desirable software requires SteamVR, which requires yet other software and more or less ...
