Sonic.... On a CD!

Sonic CD is a radical installment in the awesome Sonic the Hedgehog series, tailored specifically for Sega's hot CD Genesis add-on: the Sega CD! Blast through plenty of colorful levels featuring Past, Present, and Future variations, as well as radical 3rd person Rotating Bonus stages where you hunt down machines to get a time stone! Did I mention there was Time Travel?!? This game also features Amy-- Sonic's soon to be fan-girl turned love interest (though he's not a fan) and the mega-cool Metal Sonic! With awesome FMV opening/ending cutscenes drawn by the DBZ dudes, and state-of-the-art Q-Sound 3D Stereo CD-Quality Music, this game will surely let any Sega CD owner know just what the Sega CD system is capable of. WELCOME TO THE NEXT LEVEL, dudes!!

Great for its time

Sonic Chaos is often regarded as one of the best Sega Game Gear games with Sonic in it, and I do believe it is. Though not the best, for certain it plays much better than Sonic 2 for the same system, and implements the mechanics introduced in 2 in a much more refined manner. For its time and in context of the system controls and display, it is fantastic. However, somewhat easy bosses and small bugs, (probably due in part to the merciless design of its predecessor) take away from the experience to give it an unpolished feeling. Compared to modern platformers and the Genesis Sonic games physics and mechanics, it feels a bit strange and out of place nowadays. Definitely a great Game Gear game, but not one with enough replay value and game length to keep someone purely interested in Sonic platforming--enjoying it for more than an hour or two at best.

Streets of Rage

This Game Gear game retains the quality beat em up attitude that the 16 Bit Genesis/Mega Drive versions displayed. For a portable version, it comes highly recommended with a good number of levels, great music design for the portable system, and visuals the well resonate on the system. Voice sampling not present in this version due to the port. Good business at great price.
