Doesn’t do much

I had high hopes that this unit, at 12,000 BTUs, would cool my studio, about 400 square feet, but it only takes the edge off the heat, not much more. It certainly doesn’t make the area cool. My friend who is an a/c repairman said these portable units are usually useless in cooling an area— if you have a weird window situation, it is better to try to rig a window unit if you can. This unit, although well made, just doesn’t do it. The air evacuation vent is too small, like in most portable units, and once the space heats up by midday, can’t keep up with the heat.
