Howard Hughes' HELL'S ANGEL'S

This is a very difficult movie to review. The first half of the movies is terrible. Horrible story and acting. The writing and acting reminds me of Ed Wood. The second half is wonderful with World War One aerial combat and ground explosions. The story and acting picks up and you are left with a much better movie than you watched during the first hour. Jean Harlow does a fine acting job in the first hour; the only bright spot. So if you are prepared to suffer through the first half of the movie you will certainly enjoy the second half. It is up to you if it is worth it. On a scale of 10 one being the worst and ten being the best I would give this film a 6. 1 for the first half and 5 for the second half.

Really bad silent movie

I enjoy watching silent movies and thought a movie starring the great Lon Chaney could not miss. Chaney portrays a Chinese immigrant in a small New England town. This movie contains all the classic traits of America's view on the Chinese in 1922. He is a heathen because he does not pray like the Christians (but at the end of the movie when he is dying he sees the light and converts). Chaney walks hunched over throughout the movie, I guess that is his interpretation of the Chinese posture. All the subtitles in this silent movie have Chaney with a typical funny Chinese accent. Chaney is for the most part isolated from the community except for the minister who desires nothing more in his life but to convert the "Heathen", Near the end of the picture Chaney uncovers a blackmail scheme against the minister and saves the day before dying. Making the little Chinese man a hero in the end. Bad plot, bad acting and really overall a really bad movie; I could not wait for it to end.
