Sony Mavica MVC-FD81 still kicking and taking great pictures!

Great little vintage camera. I wanted it to take pictures of my ceramic work so I keep it in my workshop all of the time. The print images are very good and I am happy about that. I had purchased a Figi instamatic camera to do that job and it was a complete failure. I hated it. Even though this Sony is older and takes 3.5 disks, it works great for me. I have a 3.5 disk card reader with a usb plug so I can use it on my updated computer without any problems. I am so glad I bought this camera. I was able to order an additional battery and charger (if I ever need a new one) off of Amazon so I am good to go for a long time. Very pleased with my purchase.Lire l'avis complet...

Great Vintage Floppy Disc Journey!

An only digital camera but works like mine did in 1999.... Solid and functional if you can still use and read floppies. Works great for my small inventory close-ups to my website....A Great vintage journey!Lire l'avis complet...

Perfect level of technology

This camera is perfect for the average person who doesn't get caught up in the hype of bigger & better. Yet can still enjoy excellent quality and ease of use.
It was made several years ago and still has quality and perserverance in this disposable society.
My husband had bought one when they were first out. I found this to be a very easy simple way to take and send quality pictures by email or post for sharing with others.
When technology advanced along I had the opportunity to own a newer bigger better camera - I could just not figure it out - it was complex and the pictures were not as clear. My husband still likes his and I wanted my own - So I came to ebay and was fortunate to find one in great condition at a fabulous price.
I continue to take awesome pics to enjoy with family and to post for others.
I love it and wouldn't trade it for another kind.

Still living in the 20th Century ???

I bought one of these at retail in the 1990's
for $800 plus dollars, so ~$10 these days
is a great deal. Battery is the weak part,
as due to age most will not recharge now.
So obtaining a spare battery is required,
but without fear it will burst in flames as
in some newer products.

The best there is !!

The Sony Mavica FD81 isn't going to win any megapixel contest but if you want a perfect camera for sending images electronically for your email or prints up to 4 X 6 there isn't anything better and as far as I know the Mavica cameras are the ONLY ones that can make a duplicate on the spot in ttarandpuka2he camera. You can take a picture of something and have it for sale on Ebay in three minutes with no wires or connections. The FD81 is very easy to usa and will focus down so close you can almost fill a frame with a key on your keyboard and you don't have to buy any expensive memory sticks.Lire l'avis complet...

Sony avica Close Ups

Anyone who has used the ebay system with very small objects has suffered through the poor quality and problems associated with close ups. I own and use several cameras in the 7-10 megapixel range. Each has its virtue .However lost in the megapixel war was the ability to digitally focus (macro-photography) at very close range. This is between 1" and 1 1/2". The Sony mavica has a very sensitive up close focusing system and is the absolute best. I wish there was more to say but very best is all there is. The fact it uses a floppy disc for storage is the only drawback. There was a convertor that took the place of the floopy and could store a few pics but transfer was required and it was somewhat pricey itself..Good Luck from HeartofTexasLire l'avis complet...

Wouldn't use any other type of camera! Floppy Disks and all!!

Love this digital camera! It's the only kind I have used for doing pictures for Ebay, since 1999!! It's getting harder for me to find the floppy disks but I will use this camera until I can't get them anymore! The quality is great and once I get use to doing something a certain way, I don't mess with it.Lire l'avis complet...

You will enjoy this older technology takes great pictures today's standards

I purchased a model like this at a thrift store for $2.99 and it worked. I like the picture quality so well I purchased one here on eBay for $24.90. I plan to use this camera in my eBay business. I plan on using the native photos this camera takes with out any touch ups. I know another eBay seller who uses a similar camera in all his auctions and he does about $1.9 million in sales. So this little workhorse could contribute to your bottom line. The other eBay seller sells are and jewelry and watches and antiques so detailed pictures is very important.Lire l'avis complet...

Exactly what I wanted

The thing does exactly what I wanted it to do, take photos and shove them onto a floppy diskette. I will say that the battery did work, but quickly died and had to be replaced with a new one. Otherwise though, does exactly what I needed it to do.Lire l'avis complet...

Sony Camera

Good deal. Camera was great as described. This camera was ahead of it's time. It still does alot more than what alot of new ones does. It's easy to operate and even does movies for 15 second. I bought this one for a back up as I have one I bought new 7 years ago and still works perfect. I like these cameras better than any I've seen that are the latest and greatest.Lire l'avis complet...
