Moments of a Life Captured in Twilight at the Shore Between Life & Death...

"Evening" is a beautiful and meaningful film, touching and emotionally moving without being too heavy handed.

The characters are all so real and likeable... despite being so very human...
r>The cinematography gives a sense of being there in real time and in a dream like state... with some very gorgeous natural scenery at the shore throughout the daylight scenes, but mostly at twilight and sunset... visuals that let the viewer almost feel the breezes and smell the scent of the shore on the wind.

The well-known actresses in the film -- Vanessa Redgrave, Natasha Richardson, Claire Danes, Glenn Close & Merrill Streep -- are wonderfully well chosen, as are the less well-known actors.

And as a small sidelight, one nice thing this movie did for me was to let me see actor Patrick Wilson in a different and better light than I have seen him before (Tho' I still like actor Hugh Dancy better...)

Most Under-Rated Drama Film That I Have Watched In A Very Long Time...

This is an amazing story with some pretty impressive actors & actresses. Lots & lots of drama within a family regarding a woman who has 2 daughters & is dying. Covers the woman's life starting when she was young so, you get to see many different eras. Beautiful color & filming on location. I liked this movie & was entertained by it. I have repeated it more than once so, I would say that the film was rated pretty high by me. great movie to watch from time to time

This is one of my favorite movies that I like to watch from time to time.
I love the way it spans time and the relationships between mothers and daughters. It will make you laugh and cry and sometimes at the same time. It is about love and tragedy and different people from different backgrounds and how they are drawn together by love.

Evening

While this movie did not fare well at the box office, I still think it's a very well-acted film. I don't think the box office or critic reviews are the determining factors of the quality of a movie or its acting. The photography is beautiful. The music by Jan A.P. Kaczmarek is very moving and enhances so many of the scenes. What more could you ask for than the remarkable cast of this film? Strong recommendation

I would strongly recommend this movie. I liked it so well, that I bought a
second copy to mail to a friend.

The cast is incredible! It has Merly Streep and her daughter, Vanessa Redgrave, and her daughter (the late Natasha Richardson), Glenn Close,
and Patrick Wilson, of "Phantom" fame!! Sorry--he doesn't sing in this film!

The plot is intricate, and demands your full attention, as it involves many
"then and now" scenes. You see, Vanessa is dying, and goes back in her mind
to much earlier years.

If, for some reason, you don't care for the movie, just looking at the

I loved this movie. I read the book, and it was almost like reading/watching two different stories, but with the same characters. The movie is much better than the book. Both leave unanswered/incomplete story lines; I'm not sure if the author and screenwrites intentionally leave one to go crazy wondering if Harris was the father of Anne's first daughter, although the book mildly alludes that he was. The actors in the film are wonderful and the cinematography is mesmerizing. This movie is a "keeper", and one that I will watch many more times.Lire l'avis complet...
