One of the Best Collection of Songs - Ever

The first time I heard this recording was in college - 1977. This, James Taylor's Greatest Hits, Linda Ronstadt Vol. I were all the rage. Over 30 years later and this music still is as fresh as ever. I think what makes Carly Simon's music stand out is she wrote or co-wrote these songs from a personal frame of reference. She's writing about her life, and along with the hooks and catchy turns of phrase, she pulls you in for a musical glimpse - sort of like being invited to look into her bedroom or living room window.

Hearing her duet with James Taylor on "Mockingbird," then hearing her complain of his brutal honesty in "We Have No Secrets" will give you the feeling of having your next door neighbor complaining of her husband's prior infidelities. Not many songwriters have given us a close-up with that kind of chilling intimacy.

This is a survey of her earlier work, and later collections include gem's like "Nobody Does It Better" from the Bond flick, Spy Who Loved Me, and "Let the River Run" from Working Girl and her Arista releases. I used to put this record on the record player and my girlfriend and I would sing our debut with hairbrushes for mics.

Excellent in every sense - deep moods and happiness that sends you singing. I truly admire Carly's gift of creating meaningful music.

The best of Carly Simon CD

I once had this album on cassette and it was one of my female artist faves so I wanted the CD for my home stereo. The price was right and it's in good condition!

This Carly Simon BEST OF CD is simply NOT all her best! --get Carly's REFLECTIONS if you want ALL her best on one CD!
With REFLECTIONS you get 10 more songs and 10 more hits--including Nobody Does It Better, You Belong To Me, Let The River Run, Touched By The Sun, Like A River, Jesse, Coming Around Again and Better Not Tell Her, etc.

Why would you want this Best Of CD when it came out in 1975--Carly had so many HUGE hits after this album.

HOWEVER--She also has a 3 CD BOXSET and a REMASTERED double CD ANTHOLOGY---

Had to have this great Cd again.

Because I was young when Carly Simon Songs were played on the radio. Had this Cd before and wanted to have it again. She is a great singer her songs are the best.
