  • FORGET "pressure bleeding"- huge mess.

If you try to reverse bleed a brake system by pumping fluid from the caliper or wheel cylinder upstream to the master cylinder, you WILL end up with brake fluid all over the place, resulting in a huge mess and damaged paint. (glycol brake fluid eats paint) If you put the pump output hose on an open bleeder screw, pressure WILL force fluid out around the bleeder threads. You might have a Phoenix fitting that replaces the bleeder, if you swap it for the bleeder screw, it'll probably leak and you WILL have a fluid dribble each time you swap fittings. Each time you remove the pressure hose from the bleeder, the hose dribbles fluid all over. I spent two hours slopping brake fluid all over the floor, the car, myself, without achieving a firm pedal. Ended up bleeding the system by the two person, conventional method- less than 45 minutes. Now I have a couple hours of prepping, masking, and repainting to do, The pump seems to be of decent quality, other than that I'm NOT impressed. Using this tool to PULL fluid downstream from the master cylinder through the bleeders might work better, with less mess. I MIGHT try that next time... or not...

  • Rubber fitting comes apart while pumping

This pump is quite expensive and I expected more. I am a certified GM technician and have bled many brakes. The pump first of all kept getting stuck in the middle of the pump cylinder while releasing the hand lever while pumping and had to pull the hand lever back manually to fill the pumps cylinder. Secondly the rubber connecting boot that connects to the caliber bleeder adapter kept coming apart once brake fluid got on it which makes you start all over. This unit needs some redesigning for sure.
