Product Information | |
Operation Raccoon City challenges squads of highly trained paramilitary specialists, with third-person shooting and tactical action that plays out in the tense, creepy environments of the influential survival horror series. The narrative looks back to the time of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, with a fresh perspective. In the aftermath of the T-virus outbreak in September 1998, players take the roles of Umbrella Security soldiers, charged with clean-up and cover-up. Armed with the latest bio-organic weaponry, players engage in modern military operations of unilateral morality. The difficulty of these operations increases exponentially, with the arrival of U.S. Special Forces agents to conduct their own investigations. As elite Umbrella operatives, players must eliminate any evidence of the biological disaster, including the monsters it spawned, as well as any survivors who may escape to expose the truth. Even as the action turns from single-player horror to squad-based shooting, the setting is replete with Resident Evil lore and apprehension-inducing play mechanics. Playing from the perspective of the "bad guys," gamers have an opportunity to rewrite Resident Evil history, by reversing an influential battle or eliminating a key character. Traditional PvP and PvE elements blend in the games' multiplayer modes, as gamers must battle directly against the bloodthirsty zombie monsters that infest the title location, as well as against operatives on the opposing squad. A four-player co-op mode pits an Umbrella Security Service squad against computer-controlled zombies and government agents. Operation Raccoon City was developed by contemporary SOCOM designer, Slant Six Games, in collaboration with the series creator, Capcom. In addition to the main game and supporting materials, the Special Edition of Operation Raccoon City offers Resident Evil fans a selection of souvenirs and additional in-game content. The release comes in "Steelbox" packaging, featuring exclusive artwork, and includes two embroidered patches: one bearing the symbols of Umbrella Security Service, the other representing the Spec Ops Field Unit. Special Edition players also receive access to eight in-game bonus weapons and six alternate costumes. |

Good graphics
Compelling gameplay
Good value
Buggy. You will lose interest in a plot on half way. F-
The example of capcom's agressive marketing policy. The game itself has lots of bugs, gameplay is not bad but plot will cause vomit to fan of series. As a fan of series i'll give 1/5 score - 0/5 for plot and 3/5 for gameplay. Also more than half of missions should be downloaded from Xbox Live/PSN so you will need to spend nearly the same amount of money for downloadable content. The limited edition itself is poor - its nothing against japanese limited edition and its amazing contents. Also cartoon wrap for steelbook done cheaply - it will be damaged quickly even if you are the one of people who know how to play games and keep them in mint condition same time. The programming script for enemies is so bad that in example of Tyrant in "Redemption" mission you will see absolute BS especially when he make glitch-return to the edge of platform to make his scream. So there is nothing strange that IGN and others gave low rates for this game. The replayability of game is 0 - you will lose your interest in the middle of game. The game offers very limited number of enemy types - even Resident Evil 2 in 1998 had more enemy types. If you are not a fan of Resident Evil series - just don't buy this crap. It has good sales only because its titled as "Resident Evil".
Another great title by Capcom
I think Capcom does a great job making there games. One thing that i liked about this game is the new approach with team play, variety of new weapons, and that you are exploring Raccoon City. I can't complain too much about this game because i love the Resident Evil series since the beginning. The game does have some glitches like character mobility, stupid teammates, and the fact that the game is a little more challenging than other titles. I think this is a step in the right direction though in making future titles like this, but to make them a little better. I think every Resident Evil fan should own this game because it is one of those titles that completes a collection. Thank you Capcom for all your great games.
Great game
I wish they would have this in Xbox one :(
Great Videogame
Great Spinoff to the Resident Evil series. Gameplay is challenging and has a cool story for any Resident Evil fan.

Read the instruction manual before playing.
A really fun game that is enjoyable to play. It is different than Resident Evil 5 but the new features are awesome. Read the instruction manual to learn some of the techniques because they do not cover then in the game.
