fascinating design, some flaws
This calculator is as capable as any out there. Nice big screen, bigger than the CX models. Long battery life, which is not true of the CX version. I'm very intrigued by the alpha keyboard between the other keys, which I find easier to use for programming than the tiny keyboard on the bottom of the CX. However I unintentionally hit them when trying to hit the number keys, particular the X when I intend to hit zero, so entry requires a more precision. I also prefer the clickpad to the touchpad that they went with in subsequent models. Only other major issue is that the font is pretty faint, and playing with the contrast doesn't seem to help much since darkening the screen makes some shaded portions too dark. Overall I think it's a great machine, and given the going prices is a deal compared to other models.

Great CAS... slightly overcomplicated interface... great school calc.
Even ebay, doesn't know which one is which calculator, as I see the picture of non-CAS calculator associated with this item. CAS vs non-CAS... FUNDAMENTAL DIFFERENCE. CAS calculator can do a lot of math symbolically. What that means is that it can solve equations with variables in them, it can do all the algebra for you. It's truly something else. That said, there are also 3 versions of the Nspire CAS calculator (as of 2013), there's original "click-pad", the upgraded "track-pad" (you can guess the upgrade), and the new one CX which has a color screen. I personally don't care for the color screen (actually it's the terrible battery life that bothers me). I've had all versions, and surprisingly I prefer the original click-pad. Trackpad is overrated, and very often is in the way when it accidentally starts "tracking" when the user is just trying to use the D-pad. The older version is more like a calculator, trig functions have dedicated buttons, and the keyboard is arranged in a more familiar fashion (except for the alphas keys sprinkled on top of the calculator buttons). The alpha keys are strange at first, but they're very easy to get used to. The color version is just like the track-pad version, except that it has terrible battery life, and a color screen. If you really want your calculations in color then I guess there's no stopping you. The CAS is defintely much better than on the ti92 series (89, voyage). It finds more solutions to many problems (throwing complicated functions at the "solve" function). The other thing worth mentioning is that this calculator is more like a real OS in its usage. You can just grab it and use it (like ti92-series). You must create a document to which you must add a calculation tab (or you can opt to start with one), or a graphing tab, spreadsheet tab, etc. It allows you to organize your problems/subjects into separate/independent documents, but sometimes it's a little frustrating when you just want to multiply 2 numbers, but you're faced with trying to figure out how to get a calc tab. There's a "scratchpad" calculator and graphing available, so that's the universal calculator space equivalent to how ti89 operates all the time.
Great deal for three great products!
I have been searching for one of the keypads for a while now, that would be offered for a great price... what I got instead was a better deal for three different keypads, including the one I wanted. The only thing that would've made this better, was if I could have been able to have the option to buy the one I originally wanted by itself for a good deal, instead of having to buy all three. Cons of Packaging: Items were shipped in an envelope. What's wrong with that, some of you may ask? I just wish that each keypad had been safely and separately wrapped in bubble wrap, that way none of them could risk damaging the other during travel. However, my keypads did come undamaged, so I wasn't upset or anything. Overall, great product for a great deal!

My kids each have one of these, which really helped them through their high school classes and the ACT. The build is very nice. Not too large or bulky and appears well built. The display is bright and clear. The ability to swap keyboards is a much added benefit. I have played around with this one myself for the statistical functions. It is fairly intuitive and the results I get are easy to read. For anyone just picking one of these up, it may be somewhat confusion to perform complex tasks. I have seen books and tutorials on how to get the most of these powerful calculators, which I would suggest purchasing along with the calculator itself. Overall, this is a fantastic product and can make your life in science and math classes much easier.

Ti Nspire with exchangeable TI-84 keyboard a hard to beat combination
I needed a calculator for my higher math classes trigonometry and calculus in particular. What I love about this model with the interchangeable keyboard modules is the ability to convert to the TI-84 Silver edition. Many math books include examples and references to the TI-84 family of calculators and it can be replicated as a side effect (I Love) you get extra larger fonts and digits. For graphing the N-spire click or touch module has a great graphing resolution and document ability to create your own documents. This feature allows to write notes, drawings and to insert interactive shapes rectangles, circles triangles, etc.)which is very useful to derive solutions for various problems. There are also countless downloadable apps for all kind of problems. The quality of the modular N-spire is great,it feels robust and solid like a piece of scientific equipment, the regular N-spire touch or clickpad feel less expensive more like a regular calculator. The downside of this otherwise awesome graphing calculator is its lack of CAS(Computer algebra System).Which allows the calculator to display answers in natural routs and algebraic expressions more like textbook would. Some professors don't allow CAS calculators so check before buying one. If you need a graphing calculator with flexibility, TI-84 compatibility, and you can live without CAS this is the one for you. This modular unit solved the TI-84 dilemma, that many people choose to pay $150 for a TI 84/83 being an outdated calculator in my opinion, just to be compatible with their instructors peers or textbooks. The N-spire is clearly the better graphing calculator, provides higher resolution and easier input and analysis of curves. Not to mention the document ability which allows to design a work sheet for a problem, to crunch data in a spreadsheet and then graph it in a different window. I ended up selling my N-spire CAS clickpad in favor for this model with exchangeable keyboards. I don't regret losing the CAS ability for the TI-84 compatibility. Especially since you can use the N-spire CAS computer software sold separately but available for a free 30 day trial with this modular unit. The computer software is im my opinion essential if you want to take full advantage of the document function and write your own apps. The tiny screen gets frustrating designing documents, it is so much easier on a larger computer display with a mouse.
