| One of the best, most influential games ever created for a 16-bit system, Super Mario Kart has eight classic Nintendo characters (including Luigi and Donkey Kong Jr.) driving go-carts around 15 different courses. Each racer has a different battle technique (such as Princess Toadstool throwing mushrooms), while power-ups enable racers to do such things as jump, drive faster, and throw shells at other cars. Each obstacle-filled track is flat but varies in texture (smooth, wood, and gravel), and the viewpoint is from behind the racer. Mode 7 effects, a Super NES specialty, allow for smooth rotation and ground movement, and the races are fast, fun, and fair. Two-player split-screen action only increases the enjoyment of the game, and an arena-style Battle Mode is available as well. Super Mario Kart has spawned numerous imitators over the years, but it finishes in front of the pack every time. | |

Great game! While the graphics can't compare with modern triple A titles, for it's time they were amazing. The controls are slipperier than any other Mario Kart I played, which can drive me insane at times, especially on the Donut Plains and Vanilla Lake levels, but overall it feels great to play. The game is also much harder than all the future titles as you have 3 lives in one round of Grand Prix, and if you don't place in the top 4 at the end of a race, you lose a life and have to retry that course again. Overall, I would recommend this game to anyone who is a fan of the Mario Kart series.

Old but still gold.
The game runs great. Building a super Nintendo setup for my wife and son for christmas. Mario kart is always an essential. Glad to have found one for a fair price.

THIS IS OBVIOUSLY AN OLD SCHOOL GAME THE PIXELS ARE OLD SCHOOL AS WELL BUT TO HAVE THE CHANCE TO PLAY THE GAMES I GREW ON PLAYING HAS A KID IS JUST AMAZING.. SUPER EXCITED TO HAVE THAT CHANCE.. WORTH THE BUY FOR SURE

Super Mario Kart is a video game for the Super Nintendo System (or SNES) which was released in 1991. The game itself was released in the year 1992. It was a very popular game in North America and ended up being a "Player's Choice Million Seller Title". As well, it often ranks in the top 100 games, based on gamer's choice. The game Super Mario Kart is a car (or kart) racing game. In the game, you can play by yourself (against the computer) or with a friend...also trying to beat the computer's characters. You can race on one of 3 courses: Mushroom - Easy Flower - Intermediate Star - Difficult and there are 5 different tracks for each course. There are also 3 different speeds (or difficulty levels) to play at...50cc (easy), 100cc (intermediate) and 150cc (difficult). If you are able to place in the top 3 on the three 150cc courses, then you are awarded access to a SPECIAL track (the most difficult). You have 8 different characters to choose from, and all characters are familiar, if you have played Nintendo's signature "Mario" games before. Each character has a counterpart who is similar in skill. Sometimes it is a good idea if you are playing a 2-player game, to play the counterpart character to the racer your opponent has chosen (so you will both be evenly matched) The players are: Mario (all around average; very good; medium weight) Luigi (all around average; very good; medium weight) Princess (relatively fast; light weight) Yoshi (relatively fast; light weight) Toad (fast accelleration; low top-speed; super light weight) Koopa (fast accelleration; low top-speed; super light weight) Bowser (slow accelleration; fastest top speed; heavy weight) Donkey Kong Jr. (slow accelleration; fastest top speed; heavy weight) Aside from normal course racing, you can also play against your own fastest speed record (try to beat your own top speed) in the TIME TRIAL. No other players are on the course with you. Or you can play another player to try to get the top course record in the MATCH RACE. Or, you can play another player one-on-one in a fight to the finish with the BATTLE MODE. In Battle Mode, the opponents do not actually race each other. Instead, each player has 3 balloons surrounding their kart and the first person to lose their 3 balloons loses. (To play it is a lot more fun than to describe it). You have 4 different battle locations to choose from. All in all, the game is easy to play, and fun for all ages. From children, to teenagers, to adults, everyone will enjoy this game.
