| An ambitious effort, Super Godzilla is a good-looking, nice-sounding game that succeeds at being different, yet unfortunately, is not much fun. The screen is divided into an upper half, which is where animations are displayed, and a lower half, which is a series of maps that players must slowly (and boringly) navigate to pick up energy, defense boosters, and other items. After locating an enemy (such as Mechagodzilla or Battra) on the map, Godzilla will fight the creature in a clunky, awkwardly executed battle to the finish. Fights are further hampered by a uniquely prohibitive Fighting Spirit Battle System, which monitors biological rhythms and other factors and restricts moves to punching. Only when your fighting spirit is high and your enemy's is low can you pull off a tail attack, a body strike, or a breath attack. In addition to its uniqueness, Super Godzilla is notable for one thing -- the introduction of a new character, Bagan, who appears in the final fight. | |

I was 9 years old when I got this game for christmas....I loved it! I'm a huge Godzilla fan, so from that viewpoint it delivered in the fact that it is a Godzilla based video game...As a gamer though, this game leaves a lot to be desired as far as gameplay...you kind of just trot through different areas looking for the enemy monster then you have "mediocre" fight sequences which involved getting in a hit,,,then waiting/backing away until a special attack unlocks at the bottom of the screen!...When I look at this game now, i feel like it could be a great nintendo DS remake,,,maybe next year with the new movie...Visually I feel the game is pretty solid and it has multiple Toho monsters and also a Super Godzilla unique character!!! If you remove the "Godzilla Fan" part of this review...it's going to be a 3..but since if you are a godzilla fan, this is a must have!
Super Godzilla for the SNES
Godzilla is the main reason I purchased this video game for the Super Nintendo. I have been a fan of Godzilla since I could remember and enjoy collecting various items pertaining to the King of Monsters. This was an excellent deal because I received the game in its original box with instructions for a great price. The game itself is average but because you get to be Godzilla its boosts the personal value 10 fold. A hard core enthusiast of any icon would agree. When it comes to collectible items you got to have them. For someone that doesn’t think Godzilla is great, this item may fall a little short. It was definitely designed for anyone to play, but only admirers of the Godzilla would hold on to it just to play from time to time. In conclusion, if you’re an avid gamer and looking for something great to play, beat and trade this is a great game. For Godzilla Fans, this is an awesome addition to your collection especially if you want to walk in Godzilla's Shoes. Bamboo360

Why are Godzilla games never great?
It’s a sad but true story, Godzilla is very cool but his games for the most part stink. At first sight you might think this game looks all right. But trust me its not. What you do is, you walk around a city as a blue dot and try to find the red dot, which is the bad guy. Then you go in to battle mode. You punch your enemy walk back and do 1 of 5 or6 different attacks (tail whip, fire blast etc.) Until you win. The game is frustrating more then hard. Unless you are a die-hard Godzilla fan or see it on a 1.00-dollar rack don’t bother with this game
