| SpongeBob SquarePants returns to the PS2 in this 3D platform game starring the characters from Nickelodeon's top-rated children's program. For his second adventure, SpongeBob must once again save the underwater world of Bikini Bottom -- this time from the power of the plotting Plankton. SpongeBob will not be left high and dry in his quest, however. Joining the cause are close friends Patrick StarFish and Sandy Cheeks, each of whom is playable and offers distinct moves and abilities. As players pursue Plankton, they'll be able to perform such heroics as tongue-sliding down a mountain, bungee jumping off cliffs, or riding along the watery depths from inside a cruise bubble. | |

The only known sponge to live in a pineapple under the sea. Probably the only sponge to ever be in such a great game too. This game, while easy, has great graphics, that charming Spongebob humor, and most importantly, simple, yet greatly addictive gameplay. One minute you're killing a little robot in Jellyfish Fields, next you're rolling around Downtown Bikini Bottom as a Spongeball, and then you're fighting hugeo-giant-metally Robo-Sandy. Great variety, level design, and you can play as Sandy and Patrick in addition to Spongebob. One of the greatest things about this game is the ability to play all three characters. Spongebob can spin attack, jump and stomp on enemies, roll a Bubble-Bowling-Ball, and even send out a cruise-missile-esque bubble. Patrick can kill robots with his enormous gut, slam down on opponents, and pick up objects. Sandy is by far the most fun to play as. Sandy can karate chop and kick her way through enemies with ease. Also, her lasso can be used to destroy the invading robots from long-range, grab tikis from far away, and swing from Texas stars, Ratchet Swingshot style. Another great thing about this game is the story. When Plankton creates an army of robots to take over the world, he forgets to turn on the "Obey Plankton" switch, so the robots ignore Plankton's orders and take over Bikini Bottom themselves.
Enjoyable Game for Kids and Spongebob Fans Alike!
This is a really fun game with tons of great callbacks to episodes of the show. You can tell they actually put effort into this one as opposed to most licensed games on the PS2. The writing may not be as good as the show, but the gameplay is so enjoyable it's easy to forgive.
